Looks pretty good to me mate. Nice work.:+1:t2:

Thanks mate but it didn’t take much I made up some batches from 33.5 to 36 going in .5gr lots and struck the min and max shot the best so only had to recheck today and i think i will run with the max, i’m yet to chrony both but the book says the max should run at 3900fps or somewhere near that

Thanks bentaz didn’t realise I had forgot the decimal point (33.5 + 5 doesn’t = 36) cheers mate thanks

All good mate, I figured you wernt going up in 5 grain increments, mostly coz you didn’t blow up lol

In case anyone is interested, I got one of my PTAs approved in Vic today which is just over two weeks since it was logged. Actually not as bad as I was expecting.

I think that new barrel is a dud but don’t worry, I’m willing to take it off your hands for you! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Yeah you might be half right Gwion, like it may be a freek barrel no matter what load I use in it it seems to shoot it fairly well, I’ve now also used some of the old loads from the old barrel and they also shoot under 1’’ they are 33.6gr BM2 with 55gr Hornady sp a whole 5gr heaver than the ones I use on this new barrel I’ve never had a rifle do this before , but it is early days it may change down the line, the old barrel only ever shot 55gr Hornady projectiles with 33.6gr of BM2 (min load) and this new one will only use 50gr Hornady projectiles with 36gr of BM2 (max load) both from ADI manual. Also thanks for the offer of taking it of my hands but ‘‘NO’’

I tried out some reloads for my .218 Bee . Had read some good things about Hodgdon Lil’ Gun powder and Hornady 40 grain v-max projectiles. Tried the 40 grain v-max with some AR2207 as well.

I think I need some more practice to get better groups - even though I was pretty chuffed with them. Not sure which load shows the most promise - any suggestions?

I’d play with the 13.5 at bottom of top pic if it was my rifle it looks to have good balance

Well I finally got a chance to zero my thermal, then spent a rather cold night over watch on a dead beast waiting for that elusive big boar that had been feeding on it. Wind was swirling a bit so I reckon he winded me, needless to say I didn’t see him. Nevertheless, was good to be out and about having a go.
Also had a chance to test out some loads for my 300WM. Had a bit of a win with AR2209. Shooting around 3/4” at 100. Rifle is brand new so expect with a little development, I will reduce that group size. Good to be back out and about that’s for sure.

Went to Little River range today. Little more windy than I would have liked.
It was sunny though and only a bit chilly.
Took a few different guns.
Put some more factory ammo through the Howa 6.5 long range rig.
Got it bullseyed at the 500m gong. It topped out my scope clicks to do so.
Not sure whether the zero to the next lowest stadia or put a fancy 20moa rail on.
Impressive results from cheap factory ammo. My reloading dies should arrive next week.

Had a good time going for the 500m gong with old Milsurps.
K31-excellent results, stupid accurate. 20 rounds , 11 hits, including several sighters and a couple of three hit strings.
P14- 25 rounds , 8 hits, a few sighters and a lot of near misses.
No.1 Mk3- 30 rounds -5 hits. Bit windy now, took a while to even get dialed in and close. Ended up having to hold way right in the weeds. Not a great sight picture or aim point. Couldn’t be assed adjusted sight.
M91/30- 20 rounds - 3 Hits. A lot of near misses. Not consistent enough for longer range shooting. Bomb enough into the target area you will get lucky now and then.

Continued running in the Ruger .22, it’s getting there in accuracy and function.

What’s your method when shooting at these sort of distances? Do you have a shooting partner with a spotting scope calling your shots?

If like to have a go at shooting at that sort of distance but I shoot alone so not sure how to approach it.

My mate usually comes with me. At 500m I need my mate on the spotting scope to at least get dialed in. If you are missing close it can be really hard to tell where you landed.
I have done it by myself, but certainly easier with a spotter.
Beyond that it’s just belief that it can be done. Yeah the target is small but its doable.

Were you shooting at the public gongs or your own targets?

I’d keep playing with that 13.5 of LilGun as well, mate. My usual approach is to load up 15 rounds of that load and the same number 0.3 grain either side. 3x5 round groups for the beginning of a significant data set.

Would be interested to see the results.

Edit: I should add that this is if you are well within max and have no pressure signs.

Both. I had my own set up at 200 and 300m, then went at the public 500m, they have a round gong and a rectangular quasi silhouette. Pink ones. Tiny fkers when sitting over a front post.

First go with the Champion Workhorse clay thrower.
First shoot with the Akkar 3 28" Barrel 12 gauge side by side with a base model Browning Citori.
In summary everything was awesome, detailed review coming soon.
