Well that sound alright Bigpete, I haven’t got any further as it’s been raining up here since
That bow looks pretty speccie!
That bow looks far to modern for your hunting style mate, you will always be a hero of mine hunting with an atl atl and with home made bows etc.
I do love a good Free Oh’ but is that a synthetic stock? If so I much prefer that colour to the black ones you see getting around.
It is a plastic stock,it’s got a wooden sporter stock with it but for some reason I actually like this one. I think it fits well with a lee enfields purpose.
Yes the bow is high tech but I’ll be shooting it old school style,no sights and fingers
I know it’s not Sunday yet,but I’ve spent the arvo shooting clays with a few mates, nothing fancy just out in my mates paddock.
Been far to long since we could get the lads together.
Also shot a couple of flying rats during the week!
Bought two shotguns. Old singles for $50 each. Both in good working order but scratched up wood and bluing. Might restore them one day just to see what I can do.
Only issue is I have no idea how long the PTAs are going to take!
Oh dear.
Oh and I should add, I shot clays with my .64 musket and the Greener GP.
@Nomis what are the shotguns?
One is the Soviet Baikal I think I mentioned last week. The other is an Italian made poachers gun. I can’t remember the brand but my research has informed me that no name Italian gun makers were pumping this design out in the 70s. I know Stirling had a version that, from photos, is identical.
Both 12 gauge. I’ve ordered a cheap slip on recoil pad in preparation…
Yup I know the one you’re talking about mate
Well, I finally motivated myself to get out and do some shooting, back to weekly sessions now, I suppose. Comps are still not running, but whatever. Ran into couple of guys on the way out and had the preferred range to myself. Nice to have access
guns - check
coffee - check (yes, that is my Mickey Mouse coffee mug!) - check
200 rounds of 45ACP later, everything is back to normal Other than it was my last 200 rounds of 45ACP ammo, so guess reloading will start shortly too
Not guns, but I finally got to shooting my new bow. And yes, ones to the left. I didn’t want to break arrows
the sneaky bastard blends in with that red dirt,
but i hope she nailed that fox.
Was in Ballarat for the first time in ages and so took the opportunity to get some shooting done. Got a tip on a good location in a nearby state forest (thanks @bentaz) and went with my dad who hasn’t shot for a long time.
Set up some basic paper targets and plinked away with the .22 for a bit before bringing out the M96 Swede and the .303. I forgot how lovely the M96 is.
Other than that and cleaning said guns, added a newly acquired sling and bayonet to my Mosin. Hopefully might be getting PTAs for the two shotguns this week but just as likely not. I’m a bit worried that a 3-4 week wait might just be the new normal for PTAs here in Vic.
Electronically. Guy at my LGS said he and his boss both put PTAs in just before the shut down. He’s had his approved and his boss hasn’t so I’m not sure what’s going on. He was speaking to our local DFO who apparently described the situation as “completely fucked”.
Although they don’t have a heap to go on, they are advising 2 to 4 weeks at the moment.
I don’t want to be too harsh towards the LRD as they’re probably working their arses off but I don’t know why they didn’t finish assessing PTAs during the lockdown and just release all of them when it ended.
Well I had an eventful arvo I finally got to start setting up my new barrel and action on my 22-250 made some loads just to get it on paper then started at min load and went to max at 5gr intervals every load shot 1’’ or less the best two were the min 33.5 B/M 2 with 50gr sp’s @ 1/2’’ and max B/M 2 50gr sp @ 1/2’’ i’ll tinker with those two a little more then chrony them the book says they should be 3700fps and 3900fps or there abouts so will double check it again tomorrow
