What I did in guns this week.

Just got back from the normal Sunday shoot.
Was a good day topped off with a counter lunch at the pub straight after.

Now to clean everything, put it away and might even pump out some 9mm after dinner.
Otherwise it was a good day to be out and about.

I sighted in my new bow, a PSE Drive 3B cammed XL. Shoots the broadheads lovely, but target points not so much. Its bow tuning time again :expressionless:
My friend dry fired his TenPoint crossbow twice and delaminated the bottom right limbs. Its farked!

Played around with my Uberti Silverboy, which is now my daughters Silver Girl (2020, you can change genders) and ho-lee-fuk is it a surprisingly accurate little bit of levergun for $490.

Also explored some new grounds around my mates block. Its going to be awesome in dry season when all the undergrowth dies/burns off and only a few watering holes remain. I keep forgetting to take the phone with me for some photos.

I picked up my 222 rimmed cadet, which I’ve posted pics etc in another thread.
@juststarting came out on the Straya day public holiday, we shot his sniders, tried some balls in my musket and broke the opening lever on my 243, then went home sad.
Rest of the week has either been rainy or boiling hot.

You still managed to do that with Austac way over in WA.

He’s ghost is haunting that paddock.

How did the balls shoot bentaz ?

Got about a 6 inch group a 50m, but I’ve got some thicker patches I want to try and also like you said, try pushing them a bit faster.

6" at 50m from a smoothbore isn’t that bad I wouldn’t have thought

I went to the gunshop and picked up my 50cal front stuffer.

Whilst there, I learned that Nightforce scopes are the product of a mad keen Australian fox hunter Ray Dennis who happened to be a dentist. He also started LightForce hunting torches and gear.
While talking to old mate who is right into restoring Sportco 22’s, he told me about about another Aussie named Jack Warne who owned and started Sportco and also made Warne scope rings and Kimber rifles.

I had no idea. In fact between yesterday and today I forgot the names and had to have a look online. Found this: https://warnescopemounts.com/our-story/

Yeah Sportco was was originally set up when they purchased old Lithgow tooling I think. Then he ended up closing it down, moved to the US and started Kimber.

I did nothing gun related last week beyond come on here. :sleepy:

Oh shit! Coming on here counts? I came back on here!

I also shot a WA1500 match which, surprisingly, for someone who likes tacticool and modern guns, I enjoy, probably a little more than most other matches. There’s just something cool about shooting a revolver. Makes me want to get more. Then some recoil therapy with a 45. makes sexy grunting noises Then put some rounds through borrowed Jericho. I’m undecided on that one.

I design and printed a custom box for Hornady Comparator, as requested, by his fatiness, the one and only, @1Fatman. Hopefully got all the measurements right, guess we’ll see. First attempt at sliding lid design. So kind of gun related, but mostly nerding out

I think that’s about it. Sort of running low on ammo, but feeling unmotivated and uninspired to crank the handle just yet. I need to be inspired, like an artisan!

Did way more than usual this week. Got some glass for my rifle, because using the open sights was starting to annoy me.

Spent a long time trying to sight the rifle though, and I’m not even sure I did it correctly. Just that last little bit of fine tuning was evading me.

I picked up a pistol grip for my Adler 220AW, feels much better now for off hand racking, I’ll have to actually get out and shot it now…might to take it to the pistol range for some testing on Thursday.

Loaded up a belt full of full brass blackpowder shotshells.
Loaded a bunch of 44 mag on a lee hand press.
Shot a fallow buck yesterday, and will be cutting up meat today…

Nice young buck, should be great eating

Should be

Really nice looking deer. Even better fun I bet taking it with BP. Now go and clean you gun. :joy: good luck with the butchering it can make a big difference to the taste and tenderness of the meat. I know a couple of butchers but have never signed up for lessons. It would be well worth it I think.
