What I did in guns this week.

I spent a large amount of time behind a concrete grinder then a good 5 or 6 hours sniffing high octane (I would think) concrete sealer. some more of the same for this Wednesday.

I thought about the reloads I made 5 weeks ago and still havnt tried .

Been reloading all the empty brass that I can. About 1000 rounds of various calibres, mostly Milsurp. Just need to reload a stack of .223 now.
Getting a few more boxes of 6.5cm to test.
Went for a ride to Trentham today. It rained a bit. I knew it would. I got a bit cold , a bit wet on the bike. I enjoyed the open fire and a beer at the refurbished Cosmopolitan Hotel. Sometimes riding in difficult conditions makes the overall journey more rewarding.

Went to the range today and let a few rounds off, did about average with my score.

Realised that between my son and my wife that I was low on 9mm so I will be cranking the press up later to pump out enough rounds to keep them going until I get home again.

I have done a fair bit of research into calibres for my new project and I am still in three minds as to what to get. Made an appointment with my gunsmith for tomorrow to sit down with him and go through the list and rehash calibres.

Geez man, appointment at gun smith, sit down. Geeez. Making it so serious.

I took the 303 up to the mallee and walked around in the rain with it for a couple of days.
My .600 ball mold turned up earlier in the week, I wanted to cast some balls today but got an assignment done for school instead , bloody painful exersize it was too!

He is very popular and hard to get time with, just lucky he lives a short distance away and I know him well.

Slipped on a wet rock trying to get a better angle for a shot on a fox and dropped my fox rifle on its scope… Said bugger quietly (absolutely not the word I used) so as not to spook the fox that was now looking at me. Promptly missed said fox and said “bugger” again several times, but rather loudly now as old mate fox had disappeared over the hill. That gun is now relegated to the naughty corner in the safe until we get a half decent day (it’s been windy here) so I can resight it. Hopefully the scope is not fooked. Fitted the kolpin gun rack I got for fathers day, a cross rail between the roll cage uprights for a shooting rest, and my spotlight to my buggy, at least that all went well.

Went to Springvale on Friday. Not many people there which was good, but it was raining which was bad.

Pulled the gun out and cursed…no magazine… single feeding a CZ is no fun… but I was determined. Good group’s for cheap ammo… but a brainwave later checked the bag to find the mag in it. Sp all in all a happy day.

Big weekend of gun fun for me. Picked up the old Damascus barrel hammer gun and the Type 53 on Friday and drove to Ballarat.

Many hours spent cleaning loads of junk off of/out of the Type 53 but got the bore looking alright.

Went to Little River on Saturday, thought the rain might ruin it but it was actually not bad. The worst thing was the wind. God damn.
Met Mark from Epping Firearms who was there shooting his 303s and he let me have a shot, legend!
Then met Joel who was there for his first time shooting ever. He went with a Howa 1500 in 308 and he let me have a shot too. Mad lad.
Managed some alright shooting with my scoped Krico 22 at 50 metres but still want to tighten my groups up. Wind didn’t help. Thinking of trying some match ammo just to see the difference. It does seem to like SK standards.

Unfortunately it’ll be my last time shooting for a while due to other commitments. Just counting the days.

Also, the main range at Little River should be back up and running by the end of September. The steel supports are all up, the roof just needs to go on and its done.

did some casting and reloading today.
Bought a slab and a box of clays on Friday, had the clays sitting on the front seat of the Ute, then had to hit the skids coming home to miss a bunch of suicidal ducks and the box of clays went flying into the dash board, broke a heap of them, lol.

At a wedding in QLD, Gold coast. Family, eating and drinking way too much.

Sitting in the bus waiting to go to work, wishing I was out shooting.

Looking like really good morning as well in Melbourne.

Checking catalogues, paring down what I want to what I really need, checking prices, making final bid limits, looking for more money! Auction time.

On Saturday I was at a interclub comp 2 ranges of 1000 yrds. We were a little late in starting due to near on thunderstorms but the rain stopped. The wind remained rather strong and made shooting very challenging. It was gusting and going from a 90 deg to a straight down range but of course with a bit of fishtailing.

Spent a bit of time in the reloading room going through the process with several batches at different stages.

I walked up and down some sand hills with @Oldbloke looking for goats
