Hands slippery still from the lube ?
Rifle slippery from…
Yes on both counts, the lube was flying, and it went everywhere including all over the rifle. So between the room looking like a lube grenade went off and and the fact i needed a post fapp nap it was bound to happen i guess.
Same place, same gun, same quarry as last week.
On a nerdier note, I found these cool little carnivorous plants too
It looks to green to be anywhere else but Melbourne/vic… but I didn’t know we had carnivorous plants
I’m in Vic, out around Ballarat and yes that’s two species of carnivorous plants that I know of out here, there is one that’s everywhere out here but I hadn’t seen the one in the pic before.
This is the common one around here https://vcps.org/vicdrosera.html
Strangely enough I found sun dews yesterday too.
Rolled another manky mange affected fox, got frustrated chasing bunnies with the air rifle (another step closer to accepting I really want a quality PCP), and made some slow cooked pies from the last packet of meat from the buck I shot earlier this year to make room for the 1/2 a doe that got dropped off by a mate a couple of days ago
Mmmmmm… pies!
Nothing exciting in my world this week. Started doing a bit of research onto which oil to use if I have the time to redo one of my 22 stocks.
Bought a cheap rifle rest thingy from xhunter.
Confirmed that my $10 Damascus hammer gun and type 53 are good to be picked up this week too. Will post picks when I’ve got them!
I ended up out my dad’s for father’s day,and ended up doing a lot of offhand practice with my Hawken. Actually impressed the old man how accurate it was,and was pleasantly surprised to find my round ball and minies seem to hit the same spot with my new powder charge…I need to investigate that more though…
My Sunday started last Wed or maybe even the weekend before that. I received a tone of reloading supplies (I think it was last week, everything merged after being medicated and high fever - more on that later), thousands of projectiles in various calibres because I am running on fumes here. Wed took a mate to the range to shoot his first NORI - 11 per year he asked? No mate, per lifetime I said (shoots rifles, so he gets it). Nanny state he responded (with few other words). ‘RO’ was an absolutely awesome guy, so we expanded a tone of ammo in bunch of different guns and distances (I was the RO by the way, which should have been evident from the awesome guy statement). Then I resigned from my current job and went on leave the next day.
Gun free family vacation which I 90% enjoyed, the other 10% I was missing my ‘other’ kids. 3/4 of that time (lets count it as enjoyed) I had a severe case on tonsillitis which I inherited form kissing my wife, never again! Freaking koodies! Lucky for me she had a leftover course of antibiotics with her and chose not to let me die! I started taking those and heavily medicated on that, mixed with paracetamol and ibuprofen strategically timed throughout the day I made it safely down the mountain (actual mountain, not a metaphorical mountain).
Came home on Tuesday evening. Went back to work the next day (still some time until I actually leave the building), that would be today or yesterday as of couple of hours ago and just focused on getting through the day (and debriefing people on what I will be handing over to the lucky bastards after my departure) - because it’s range day
Shot WA1500 which was fun, while it was pissing down. Very tactical! Very man!
3m starting distance - definitely fun. Then I tested my new recoil spring and some old magazines in my 1911 by doing rapid mag dumps, just to suss out any feeding issues. Zero issues - gosh that felt good and what an awesome purchase (review soon). And now I need more primers. You’d think 800 rounds is a lot, but it’s not a lot (I loaded 2 weeks ago I think), half way through.
What else…
Did a little gun shopping. Not gun-gun, more like gun-accessory-gun, but more on that when everything arrives. My Beretta APX started shooting really well (another review soon) - I am not sure if it’s me (probably me) or the 1000+ rounds it had through it so far, maybe a combination of both, but I really like that gun. Shot vs a couple of people with S2’s and did as well, so hey, no complaints yet. Or maybe everyone was equally worthless, although I was shooting loaded ammo with a much better recoil control shall we say than factory those dudes were shooting.

I think last week (pretty sure it was last week, maybe last weekend) took @Tempestman to the range to try some 22s. Can confirm, 80% nice guy, not crazy serial killer, the other 20% - not sure, could be a crazy serial killer. He decided to stop shooting and join in on a conversation RO and I were having about something pew pew related. In response RO told him that he is here to shoot and he should get back to work, I found it hilarious. Nice when you get awesome ROs. @Tempestman seemed confused and returned back to ‘work’. Hopefully decided on the gun he wants

yes, that’s it, just need more primers.
The Ruger American was certainly really nice to shoot. Was getting much better groupings with that than the Alfa.
It’s a pity you were sick. Is tonsillitis the one where they remove them if you have it too often?
No, that’s testicles.
@Tempestman don’t worry, tonsillitis is not contagious unless you live in Victoria and have small hands…
Go eat some crayons, biatch.
Only eat the red ones
And remember, don’t eat the brown…
I went to Springvale range yesterday, spent four hours there and didn’t fire a shot.
One of my nephews has just turned 12, so I took him down so he could have a shot.
250 rounds later he was still smiling. Joined him up as a junior SSAA member so he gets the magazine and cheap range fees. I think he will be asking me to take him back fairly regularly.
Shot my 458wm today in an attempt to get the new iron sights in. Fail.
Also played with my Hawken a bit on paper…little disappointed to be honest, considering the success I’ve been having with it hunting lately…
Also sighted in my 100 buck special mauser 98 35 whelen…I’m in love hey…
