Spent a day in the office in a mask. 1. I have new found respect for those who have to wear them daily. 2. Fuck this shit, I’m staying home tomorrow.
There’s also a payment if you’re a casual worker who needs to isolate for 14 days
I’m waiting for the vaccinated wankers who think they are exempt from a lockdown…getting the popcorn…
Well, I am not sure why they would be wankers, that’s the whole point of a vaccine, no? I don’t think they should be in lockdown…
The vaccine doesn’t stop spreading the virus though does it? Just lessens the symptoms a bit as far as i understand it, but i’m probably wrong
My builder from Victoria is up here for the next four months. He is soooo happy.
Because they can still carry and transmit the virus. The vaccine only lessens the impact so the health authorities are not overwhelmed, is my understanding.
I think your right…
So? For people who are vaccinated, lockdown rules should not apply. Alternatively, using your logic, why would you get vaccinated for anything?
FMD. My builder just got the text message. “Please get tested for Wu-Flu.” He arrived in Darwin on the 12th May. We had “Bass in the Grass” on the 21st May with roughly 7000 interstate visitors.
This should be fun.
You would get vaccinated to lessen the symptoms and have a better chance of getting through covid, id have thought that would be pretty good motivation
I don’t think we are talking about the same things. I am not debating about benefits of vaccinations, I am saying that if you are vaccinated, then lockdown rules shouldn’t apply to you. If the majority are vaccinated then somehow we are no longer going to have lockdowns? In which case, why do they apply now for vaccinated people?
Why do I have to drive at the same speed limit as someone with reaction times four times as long as mine?
Why do we have locks?
Why have police?
Etc etc etc
Alright, let’s look at it from the other end. Assume that majority of population is vaccinated. Should we still have lockdowns?
Depending on the proportion and efficacy probably not.
The problem I foresee is that vaccinations would have to be done worldwide simultaneously to ensure no new resistant strains have a chance to get a foothold.
Yeah, bit late for that…
The problem with that is that it opens the door for all these new types of “travel passports” for local travel & everyday movement like the U.S. pollies are feeling out at the moment and luckily there’s been a fair bit of backlash. On face value it seems reasonable but when you look into what they can and ultimately will turn into it’s a bit of a worry. It will be a bit like old Adolfs “Halt paperz pleaze” regime except it will be “phone app please”.
I don’t know the solution but personally i think once there’s been a reasonable amount of time and enough vax so everyone who wants it to get it can then end the lockdowns and what will be will be. International entry/exit will still have to be a be handled with a bit more scrutiny though.
