Savage A22R discussion

25 is not legal.
15 - don’t know, but I’d be keen if you find one.

BTW let’s be clear here, as I pointed out in my original review… To me, because I like obscure and weird, it’s an amazing fun gun, something different and a lot of fun, if you already have a 22, this should be the next one (or maybe the 3rd one or the 4th one, well, depends if you like pump and revolver, but you get my point). BUT compared to any of my 22s - this trigger is still very heavy. I’ve fired mine, mine with mod and honestly, you know… Still heavy.

Do you know exactly what NIOA did as is they say they changed some springs out to lower the trigger weight and the bolt release trigger. Is it a straight forward mod that you had springs for?

I understand where this gun fits in th scheme of things. Its the plinkfest gun that you get out when friends come to try something different. No argument from me there its a novelty but if it can be made to be its best then all the more fun.

Im special primary producer would be allowed a 25. I dont mind buying a 25 that has a limiter in it can be removed ALA 30 round AR mags. Dont know how they are allowed into the country with the silly laws.

Pretty much. Not much of a change.

There’s no magazine limits on Category A firearms in Queensland. Getting it past customs might be another matter, though.

Yes I have seen the Butler Creek ones none currently in Aus that I could find. Also even in the US I think that Butler Creek may have stopped making mags for the A22 from the info on a couple of places that I looked.

Geez the ass has fallen out of these things. Safari firearms are selling all the variants cheap as chips!!

Soon to be buy 1 get 1 free lol.

Might be a new one coming out so they are dropping the price to clear stocks.

Give it another couple of weeks and they’ll be $5 with a free PTA

That will give a reason for @juststarting to buy a couple more

Really odd that the stainless steel is cheaper than the standard blued version.

I thought the same thing, maybe they have a bunch of stainless ones to get rid of.

$50 more for the pro varmint too.

They are fun rifles… There are a few reasons I think. Bad initial reviews. They do benefit from a bit of tuning. CZ515 is the better option and something else is on the horizon. However, with covid, factories closed and everyone is sick, I think it’s a bit hard to consider the ‘something new’ option. Maybe just clearing stock, but who knows…

I’ll see if any of my bets pay off at this upcoming auction. If they don’t and these deals are still around, I might go the pro varmint.

I found this thread purely because I was looking for a shorter barrelled 22 and saw the safari sales and am wondering if it’ll be worth the cheap fun or do I go with a cz or another Tbolt

Hey ya, that really depends mate, what is it for and how much you have to spend. It’s not really “short” barrel, not as short as say Cz515 or Ruger American Compact; or any of the funky PWS 22s. What were you considering it for?

@Lukeveltman you might want to have a look at this too:

I know the price difference is only getting bigger between this and the CZ, but really there is no comparison.
Just save up and get the CZ, might be 3 times the price but it’s 10 times the gun!
