New firearms laws for WA

Looks like they have got Facebook and forum comments now.

In any case they could fix this problem by allowing public land hunting like the smarter states.

The whole system there is crazy mate

Easy fix.

Remove property letters from the system

You are either trusted to own a firearm or not?

I don’t see what function they actually serve. Even guys with enough land to shoot a 223 safely have to buy a letter for one.

My pistol club is open - takes about 12 months but you get to have fun in the meantime with club firearms.

Open license for long arms can still be applied for.

Go to your local firearms shop and they’ll talk you through the process.

Or move to another state

Wouldn’t it be awesome if they were like, ok new laws… And everyone was like wow these are the most sensible laws. That would be cool.

You mean the way it always was like when our fathers used to carry rifles on their bikes to school? Top shelf bottle of Whiskey or Whisky to the person who can explain best what changed and made us start killing each other/breaking the rules.

It’s certainly an opportunity to fix a few things.

Property letters are stupid as stated

I’d like to see WA implement the national firearms agreement with reciprocity etc.

Plastic licence rather than sheet of paper

Being able to shoot at a range once year or something with a collector’s license

No questions asked free storage for periods of illness, holidays, marital discord etc… $50 per firearm per month is the going dealer rate near me.

I bet none of these things are on their agenda…

Not considering unprimed brass as ammunition. or spent 22 cases

License actions not bare barrels.

Would love to import the Vic laws to WA lol, especially the one about recognizing interstate licenses, fuckers!

Queensland has something like this - you can legally lend you gun to any other licensed person for three (it might even be six) months now, with no paperwork etc required.

We nearly got “guns are WMD’s” reference in Hansard from Brian Walker yesterday, close but not quite.

“I do not see anything wrong with the idea of keeping the community safe and reducing access to weapons that can be used for mass destruction”

Its a fact that WA LAFO’s have chemical and biological weapons!
You want proof? Just look at 9/11!

To be fair, he isn’t dead against gun ownership. It is just the wording these politicians use when in the house it is just childish. No wonder rational legislation never leaves these places.

This doesnt help…

High powered 22?

22.250?

I like how they hold the highly dangerous guns like fishing trophies

Perhaps if people got the book thrown at them for illegal firearms and car theft - there might be less of both in WA?

Suspended sentence?

Side note, the Lithgow is nice. Must be in storage with them. And the gel blaster… Well what can I say?

I thought the Shooters Union had NRA affiliation?

Decent complement to NSC by the minister.

I’m personally glad we have both. :muscle:
