I know they have been contacting the minister and there were some opposition members in parliament raising the concerns with the legislation but what do you expect them to do when there is such a majority for Labor in parliament. They just aren’t listening or even bothering to consult with associations and lobby groups, did you read the hansard link above ? The groups you mentioned fall in the right wing terrorist group according to Labor. We can shake our fists all we want but there is no way to politically fight this. We can’t get the gov to budge on mandates and border lockdowns, they aren’t moving on firearms.
This is the mess we have been left with by a populace that does not understand how easily a democracy can become a dictatorship.
Time for some of you guys to either make a run for it, or run for parliament…
That sums up some of the major challenges at the moment, unfortunately.
Regarding the whole “Let’s dox the Perth gun owners!” thing, we’re coming at it from a couple of angles. One of the things we’re doing is preparing a formal submission to the WA Police Conduct Investigation Unit and the WA Crime & Corruption Commission over the fact WAPOL provided such detailed information to the media.
It’s one thing to say “Hey, did you know in postcode 6XXX there’s X gun owners with Y guns?”; it’s quite another to say “Here’s a street-level map of where everyone in WA with a gun registered to them lives.”
We’ll also be making the argument that trying to claim “but we didn’t give the journos names etc!” doesn’t matter; it’s not about the identities of who lives there, it’s the whole “Hey, this house has guns in it!” thing that is the significant issue (well, one of many).
It’s going to take a while for all this to play out though.
I was thinking about the privacy issue, but didn’t want to comment… maybe they setting it up so thieves " know " were guns are stored and hopefully steal some… then its a " public safety " issue, to put the karens on edge… honestly I don’t put anything past these douches anymore…
You mean to say that the map with dots on it is an actual true representation of where guns are stored.
When I saw it I just assumed it was a rough graphic pictorial to show there are lots of guns all over the place.
Unfortunately It’s an actual representation of where guns are stored. We’ve confirmed it.
Thats the dodgiest thing I’ve seen in a long time, and those clowns have the gall to claim they want to prevent them falling unto the wrong hands.
Fucking hypocritical scumbags is probably the nicest thing i could say.
Thst is just bloody madness, WTF were they thinking.
If this is an accurate enough representation, does it potentially expose the WA government to liability if someone gets their house broken into, and their guns stolen?
The whole thing just seems so brainless.
So this is where they investigate themselves?
Oh, i’m sure they investigate themselves all the time. Their fuck ups not so much.
The CCC are independent, at least. There’s a bunch of processes we have to follow even if we all know what the outcome is going to be.
Yeah. Either way this shines light on the problem and that’s a start. I’ll PM you with some thoughts
Lots of people getting involved it just takes time and thought and a bit of planning. I’ve had lots of support from all the usual organisations.
My local member was aghast when she realised her entire electorate has been caught up in this. She grew up in Bendigo and from door knocking and all the regional numberplates on the cars outside we both know the area is full of retired farmers who have probably held onto a firearm that was passed down the generations.
I thought she was hard left Labor and anti gun but she rang from her personal mobile number and spent 25 minutes talking through the issue with me, said she’d raised my complaint with the minister and gave me some avenues to persue accountability.
Labor and WAPOL know they’ve done the wrong thing but have a plan to screw us over and will stick to it.
It’s no coincidence they lost a case in SAT on Monday.
My guess is they wanted to provoke everyone with the front pages and then have sent this survey around the shooting clubs to get some hostile replies.
(Sorry images are backwards start reading from the bottom)
The clubs and associations are appropriately advising members not to fill it out.
We just have to keep calm and grind this one out.
And from something good to something stupid.
I’ve always tried to be reasonable and polite with Firearms licensing because a) I know it’s not easy to process 200 applications a day and b) I know they keep a list of people who abuse them.
Despite, at their request, sending them a picture of my address and a picture of a bullet hole on my address I was sent a generic response from the “reform project officer” telling me people are fear mongering and it was just a random map.
This is the random map by the way:
Well actually someone called Mr Sparke was told he is a victim of fear mongering. That is not me.
Do they really expect us to believe that map is a random distribution?
Anyway I won’t be specific about my reply for obvious reasons. But I’m not letting this go.
There is no problem. Police decide to create one. Use media to spread it. “How dumb are the people?” is the question. This is a disgrace.
Yep. Now you must all hand in your guns because the crooks now know where to steal them from. It’s for public safety guys honest it is…
