Have you shot it yet?
Yeah Iāll definitely grab a couple of the 15 rounders, 25 would be better though
Depends how you use it. Of hand - no problem. You lucky pricks, at least you got that going for you (I think), we have a 15 round limit on rimfire here. However, of a barricade or some support, they will most likely get in the way. Also depends how big you are, specifically if you use a bipod or some sort of a shooting rest. On lowest setting, which is what I use most of the time - they will hit the bench. And of a barricade, they will most likely run into the barricade unless you get pretty uncomfortable and stretched out so to speak. I am not saying donāt get them, if I could, I 110% would, but good to know that you will lose some versatility in shooting positions with them.
I guess the factory mag that comes with it would allow for bench shooting, but honestly for me this is a plinker/rat killer.
Factory mag is 10 rounds, it is NOT enough. You will go through that in a heartbeat, you underestimate how fast it is. I have enough to load about 150 rounds. Mix of 15 round ACME (least reliable), old school brno 15 round steel magz - reliable but very rare and 15 round new CZ mags, common - also flawless. Blink and itās gone. I say you want to load at least 50 rounds before you start a session. Or maybe itās just me. @Supaduke is it just me?
Yep I took it to the club to sight in the red dot. Turns out to be perfect horizontal just a bit high. Didnāt bring a screwdriver to actually adjust it so I just adjusted my aim to the top of the black circle and blew through 60 rounds or so (all my loose and part packs)
I started off shooting Mandar with my 686 and 357 magtech cowboy rounds mixed with my loose 357 ammo from the safe - omg so much fun - I had no idea when it was going to shoot flames.
Then I headed to range 4 by myself and shot the cz off hand - I soon discovered itās almost boringly predictable where the rounds go at up to 25m using the red dot.
Couple of 15 rounders and the variable optic will go well for plinking.
Someone in WA managed to get a 25 round drum mag in for the B230 Adler and posted up the process on Facebook (before I deleted all social media) so thatās why I see it as a challenge. A 50% capacity bonus is great, 150% must be three times as good.
Or is it exponential?
Stop it, Iām getting too excited now
All this talk makes me want a new 22. But whatā¦
Iāve got a lead on a single shot Sportco clubman that i bet you donāt have. Has a custom firing pin made from a grade 8 bolt, custom lime green stock and la101 trigger guard where the spent case drops out of the mag well. Bargain price so i hear.
Lolz, yeah, nah. I have more than enough single shot 22s!
pauses to count
Yes, more than I ever expected. I am sick! Sick!
Yes and you have that fancy Single shot Semi Auto / Full Auto has to be seen to be believed.
Winchester 55 lol yeah
Yes just to clarify the action would be classed as a self ejecting action as it is not a magazine feed action and has to be loaded as a single. The bolt also cocks the action from memory ready for the next round to be loaded through a special inspection hole on the top of the barrel a bit like a reverse trap door. That was my impression JS can correct me and set the record straight but a very unusual action esp in todayās times not that it is a modern rifle.
Itās under show us your 22s thread somewhereā¦ Search forum for Winchester 55, youāll find it
So I was thinkingā¦ The public gaspsā¦ @Gregfiddich I am surprised you donāt own a 515.
Okay, no more thinking.
You are right, i would have one if i didnāt live over in WA. Already have 4 22ās, would need a really good excuse for another.
Good thing youāve got a team of enthusiasts to help you make a reason.
Do they consider competition themes? i.e Lever guns to shoot Western comps?
Yeah i could probably find a club reason. Maybe field rifle as it has a rapid fire component.
Today I finally joined the cool club and put my money down on the 515. Should have it by the end of the week. Cant wait to give it a thrashing on my steel little animals.
Welcome aboard, if I had to guess , based on half informed profiling, Iām going to say you went with a woody.
