Budget rifle builds

Nice rifle but over priced. If you are prepared to do it yourself which is not hard as it is just assembling gun pieces you would save a couple of grand.

Yep. You could put a bare rifle like that together for inside $4k, then it’s just how much you want to spend on a scope…

Cheap (debatable / relative) and cheerful. Looks cool too.

Actually, I’m guessing a break is a necessity (don’t argue, it is), that’s another $300. Mmmm, not that cheap any more.

A brake, why there is bugger all recoil !!! Next you will want smaller grips for little hands lol :rofl::innocent:

I held one of those howa bravos, and it felt chunky Af so smaller grips would actually be nice :joy:

I put one of those together bought the barreled action from cleavers for $499 then put it in a MDT LSS-XL $350 fitted it with a magpul PRS butt another $350 plus some extras like grips and buffer tube. Got a cheap brake of ebay for a 223 and drilled it out and re threaded it. (6.5 mm does not seem a popular size they go from 223 up to 30 cal). Then it is sharing a scope ATM. Cheap ebay Harris bipod really they are as good as anything in that size. Only my Comp type bipod beats them for stability and vertical adjustment.

Not bad I think I would prefer the next gen chassis it has a bit more up the front to grasp but it may also make it to heavy. perhaps I should put one of those front grips on it.

Nice calibre, .338 Lap. But gawdamn they are expensive toys to run. I have been looking at chassis rifles myself. I want something tacticool. I like those Howa Bravo’s. Getting very tempted by a 6.5cm in FDE. Cleaver has a bunch of different chassis rifles though. Some very tempting Howa variants there. Maybe even a Lithgow in a chassis. But then I’m saving and waiting for the Woomera to come out, if it ever does. I really want a 6.5., my Swedish Mausers are such sweet accurate shooters, I really want to explore that in a modern 6.5 cartridge in a modern stock/chassis.

Don’t even think about say that word over here, just those numbers and letters together can cause some serious mayhem and possibly even kill hundreds.

Oooooo @Supaduke when and how much? I think I need one. I know I said to myself, I don’t want one, but I wasn’t thinking straight.

The MSRP is around $2700. As for when… Well it’s only 5 months overdue. I guess the barrel recall really set them back. Still , hard to wait for something that has no real timeframe.

Hrmmm, so let’s round it to say 3K and RPR in 338LM is circa $3150. Mmmmm back to dreaming about LM for me.

This is why he bought the rifle but couldn’t afford to shoot it.
