It’s perfect having some car troubles at the moment though, no new guns for me at this stage
Buy a jeep they said, it’ll be fun they said. Lol!
You could probably still do it yourself as I did. Buying a Howa Barreled action was $>500 and then you have the choice of chassis, butt stock and grips. Very doable for around that price I would think. If they are the components you want however go for it.
You could say you are having car troubles or you could just say you have a Jeep…
In defense of jeeps, my missus has had two grand cherokees. First one. 1999 model I think, had over 300 000km on it when she wrote it off hitting a 90kg feral pig at 100km/h. Apart from the pig, never had a minutes trouble with it. She now has a 2012 model with the 3L V6 diesel engine. Great car, eats Toyotas for breakfast in get up and go, and fuel economy. I took it to Tasweigia the other year and got 7.4 L/ 100km out of it. It developed a coolant leak @ 80,000km which turned out to be a seal in the water pump. They fixed it under warranty and so far, at 140,000km, happy days. I know I just jinxed it.

Too funny. Poor @AusTac is in Siberia now. No guns there, only love for the party and the proletariat!
I will dig out some old receipts or figures I may be able to get from online shopping Accounts to give a break down of a Howa 1500 in 6.5 Creedmoor that I built.
I bought the barreled action from a big shop in QLD along with quite a long list of bits to put it together.
i have recently bought a few hundred $ more in bits of bling that will never get used. The reason being that while it looks good and should be good the reality of how it fits together and the feel of the parts in your hands is just crap. That refers mainly to fore end grips.
If you go the Omark route, it will outshoot the Howa, with a decent barrel hands down
Since got an Omark and still never shot it… well, I have shot it before but not since I’ve owned it. The Howa shoots very well. It would be interesting to do a side by side comparison with just me shooting it instead of shooting against someone else…
Haha funny you say that, I’ve got an Omark i haven’t shot yet. The barrel is like unfired, brand new almost, cant find any traces of copper of lead in it. Not sure I have a use for it, I just had to have it…
I’m also the owner of an omark I’ve never shot lol.
Haha far out, we need to pull out fingers out!
I have an Omark that has an almost unfired barrel…it could end up my next project…but it would be ashame to pull the pristine barrel. If only it was a 223, or had a 223 bolt head at least…
@MaxJon do you have someone local you Could recommend to drill n tap mine for bases?
Also why do you want to rebarrel it to 223?
