What I did in guns this week.

Haven’t actually shot anything this week, but I have visited a couple of shops in dubbo and finally scored a Greener police 12/14ga shell that I can use to get a forming die made.
Visited Owen Guns lgs and museum and bought an SMLE single shot .410 and some other bits n pieces.
Visited QLD Gun Exchange and bought myself a universal recapping die and decided to buy a cadet rifle in .222 rimmed.
So no shooting but a bit of gun stuff.

So if you have a new recruit why isn’t he on the forum

Don’t know, he’s shy and adult like.

So he won’t fit in then.

Well Sunday was too hot to spend any time outside so I decided to stock up on 9mm and cranked up the Dillon. All up we loaded (the wife helped) 2911 shells. We could have kept going but ran out of ammo boxes and the last couple of hundred have to sit in a plastic bin until they are used.

Got to thank my wife who kept the primer tubes filled up and even topped up the powder for me.

Don’t see use for 9mm ammo boxes, max you can get is 100 and that’s like what, 10 magazines… You know how fast that goes

One of this is 400 - 500 rounds, depending how well you arrange the ammo.

And a few of…

…I find they sit inside 50cal ammo can very well, to keep various calibres separate. I have a can which is permanently stocked with the selection of JS-Finest. That way, I just grab that and go, without needing to think what I need. Just throw what I actually need in the bag at the range.

This one is about 300-400 rounds.

No need for fancy ammo boxes that waste heaps of space.

You guys are really pushing me towards a Cat H licence.

Do it… you will never regret it lol

I’ll kick it off ay. No pew pew! Massive withdrawals, lol. It’ll be fixed this Wednesday. I hope. Other than that, worked on restoring a couple of rifles and took a look at the third, see what’s needed. Yeah, uneventful.

So I redid my 6ft tank, got rid of the sump filter and am experimenting with a planted “No fert, no filter, no water change” system. I have started digging the hole to bury the IBC sump for the cod pond, but it’s been hot and now to Smokey so I’ve paused in that too for the minute.
I bought a 6 n a half foot tank off eBay for $2.25 the other day and road tripped down to flinders to pick it up, I built a stand for that the other day and then test filled the tank on the front veranda, luckily because it sprung a leak, but that’s easy fixed.
That’s about it for fish stuff this week.

Oh wrong forum, I usually spend a lot of time in and around my ponds this time of year, other than the black cat that won’t be seen in my yard again I haven’t done any gun stuff this week.

A dead cat is a good cat.

First gun related stuff for a while. Bought a 1943 91/30 Mosin Nagant at a good price.
Going shooting for the first time in months this weekend and then again the weekend after and taking a mate who I’m hoping to get into it.
Starting to get shed quotes which will include a workshop. Can’t wait!

My 91/30 is '43 I think

Yesterday i went and bought my first gun for the year. I know it’s pretty late in the year for the first gun…
It’s nothing special, just a little Adler B220 20" all weather, for the money they seem to be a good little bush gun & hopefully it runs a bit better than the Pardus lever i have.
I have to say i was a bit surprised it didn’t come with a “cylinder” choke, for the style of gun it is surely they’d expect you to shoot slugs through it, not really an issue as i have a couple that fit it anyway.

Eagle Park on Saturday with a mate who had never shot before. Got him started with a .22 and then onto the Mosin Nagant as he asked to try something bigger. He enjoyed both.

And then today got to meet @bentaz and was introduced to the wonderful world of shotguns. Heaps of fun!

Hrmmm somewhat uneventful. Unloaded a little pew pew. Cranked out a little pew pew. Shifted iron sights and wanted to go test them out, but it started raining, so yeah. That’s about it for pew pew this week.

Well, more like last week.
Took out my grandson and I got another fox.
Puchased 2 trail cameras. (Got sick of waiting for Aldi)
Made a nipple wrench for the muzzle loader
Bought a new rifle rest.

Your, game. Did you come home feeling “re-educated”?

I came home wanting to buy a shotgun so yes, I guess I did!
