What I did in guns this week.

Its not Sunday yet so there is still a bit of gun related stuff that will occur. But as a running progress report I have been watching quite a few Hickok45 and Paul Harrell you tube videos. That Hickok is the man he has videos going back 12 years they are a bit light on for information sometimes and more just showing guns shooting shit but there are some golden nuggets of information scattered in them as well.

Paul well he is much more fact driven type of guy taking user questions and myths and setting about showing the truth in a very non Hollywood style.

Range day Saturday loaded up some bullets well completely case prep and clean and then load bullets for an over 80s guy that is struggling a bit now due to age and his wife has been in Hospital for a few weeks due to a fall and now just moved to nursing home. I dont think she will be getting out that I dont think he has come to terms with so he has a lot on his mind as well as a bit of dementure. Loaded up some for me as well. Need to place an order for some more bullets need bulk for sorting to get good consistency but always the issue with $ and the should I try another type?

Good on ya @sungazer for helping the old fella out, things like that can really mean a lot to people.

I’m a Hickok and Paul Harrell fan too, although every time i get into a binge session of either of their videos it seems to always end up costing me money.

I’ve been enjoying Ian and Karl from InRange.tv doing Q&A as well as some battlefield tours. The Q&A is good to listen to in the car, not a visual thing really .
IraqVetran88 I still watch but some of the gungripe stuff is getting old.
Hickok is good.
Paul Harrell is quite entertaining but sometimes a little condescending to other channels and experiences.
Military arms channel is not bad, though slightly militant at times.

C and Rsenal is also excellent and we’ll researched. It’s funny you watch the more well known channels and it’s pretty good. It’s not until you watch some of the lesser known stuff that you realise just how slick the production values and presentation skills these people have developed. It’s quite admirable.

You’ve pretty much matched my playlist and opinion. Also, the Anvil segments on C&R arsenal. Excellent watching.

Yeah C&arsenal is hard to beat when you really want to know about something.
Forgotten weapons when you really wanna know about everything!

Sunday has been good. Out prospecting and teaching the younguns the basics of firearm safety. Got them “on the paper” at 50 metres after a bit. Drilling them all tbe way about safety safety and… Safety. Once their eyes started glazing over we packed up and my mate went home whilst i detoured to my mates property out near Cape Clear for some solitude.
Popped tbe CZ’s cherry early with a few bunnies and just dicked around with Strelok Pro and got familiar with her. Shoots 1 MOA @ 50 easily. A bit windy for any consistent results out further but all in all a lovely little rifle.
Still sitting her with a quiet beer waiting for the afternoon to wane a little more…
Ive been watching my red dog with amusement as its the 1st time hes come out with me for a shot… I had to quarter the 1st one for him as hes always had them cold from the fridge up till now… Loved the head… CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH!
Not in a hurry to head home so a few more will be nice to bag.
best of all a few days off to decompress after a big week at work.

Cheers Graeme

Sunday gun pick ups, Westley Richards 310 Cadet, Mossberg 16g bolt action for the Mrs (she likes 16g shotties), C.H.Crawford hammergun, nitro proofed Damascus barrels in vg condition. Box is a bit sad though.

Also have a story to share - an acquaintance i’d known for all of two hours thought it was funny to throw some .22 mag cartridges in the fire which caused small explosions, all fun and games, num nuts went to bed and left his chair by the fire, with a box of ammo, it was fair windy that night, he chair got blown into the fire along with the ammo at 02:30, the sound of exploading ammo sure got me out of the swag real quick thought someone was shooting in our camp

…and that’s why you only go shooting with people you trust. Sure, won’t kill you, but the shrapnel will take an eye out or two.

I may just of put him in the fire afterwards

Probably really lucky no one was still around the fire awake or asleep. If not shrapnel from the exploding ammo it can also move some burning bits off wood real quick.

Sounds like a fuckhead. I wouldn’t shoot with someone like that…

I had a few boxes of 22 end up on a rubbish fire accidentally once, wasn’t that bad. Mind you we did all move back a bit.

I mean its not a total idiot type move. Leaving the box of ammo for a 22 out overnight in a camping environment not that hard to do. Doing it on purpose more than the one time thats a bit silly. It like playing Russian Roulette and already having one go and putting an extra bullet in the chamber.

Had the resident Greens member at work ask me this today, then he went on and on about how he was at the Extinction rebellion protests and got some great photo’s.
Couldn’t help it, said to him that reminds me I’ve got to get my camera out and make sure I’ve got an empty SD card and batteries for next weekend.
Puzzled look, whats on then? Shot Show! Taking my nephew down so he can try out the air pistols, air rifles and have a look around, maybe pick up some - hey where are you going?
