She’s apparently a federal senator - she shouldn’t be commenting on what the States should be doing.
She was formally my local federal member, she ran for the Senate instead when it became obvious she was going to lose her seat.

Our amazing totalitarian gov can fast track police candidates for covid even though they are using the military for support but it’s a real struggle to get officers when any mention of crimes come up.
WA government unveiled plans to add 285 WA Police officers to help police the state’s COVID-19 response.
An extra 150 officers would be recruited immediately, while another 135 currently in the WA Police Academy will have their graduation fast-tracked.

I know they are just for show to keep people inline but rushing through police candidates to man these “temporary” measures when they already have access to man power ?
What valuable parts of their training are they missing out on or what is in the training that doesn’t need to be there in the first place if they can cut it from 12 to 6 months.
The other thing it shows is the police taking the opportunity to get whatever they want with the Covid 19 checkbook. Will these lock down measures be in full swing for 6 months until the candidates are out or is just a way to get more cops outside of the normal budgeting restrictions ?
At a guess they can skip firearms training as we won’t be able to have any when they ban them and of course all of the criminal factions will hand theirs in as well.
Besides cops can’t shoot for shit, we get them at our club and even at 10mts are lucky to hit the black.

The wierd thing , this is not us being smartasses. This is all actually happening. Feels like a bad joke.
Had the discussion with the wife. Kids have been pulled out of child care. Getting an Au pair move in. Funny thing is, it’s cheaper than child care.
The logical part of me says this is all a bit of an over reaction and things will be all good in a few weeks.
As I observe further restrictions and enforcement being imposed it seems surreal. Damn I hope this is mostly a media beat up but geez, the prepper part of me is getting the heeby jeebies.

Not sure what army said it but it went something like. You dont want us to do that we dont use appropriate force. We use complete force, warning shots are not given we are trained to kill.
It may be a little bit different in today’s PC wars but it is true they are not a police force they are not trained to restrain people they are trained to incapacitate people. They were never designed to operate on their own population.
