New firearms laws for WA

My view is that the heavy handed over the top response to incidents in the US is a major cause of the ongoing escalation in the civil disobedience and crimes being committed.
So way to go WA you are on the right track to escalate society response in the direction of the US. Having lived in the US on several occasions and dealings with police there My comparison between Australian Police interactions and American Police interactions is first hand not from tales or TV.

McGowan is a bigger pinhead than David Kosh…I really hope WA get some relief with a change of Government with David Honey at some point.

On a serious note… I was thinking about when I saw the size of Papalias convoy exiting Anzac Day at kings park.

At least 20 motorbike cops and four SUVs in the convoy, no doubt filled with state security armed with M4s…

So he’s ok with firearms as long as it’s for his protection… But self defence is not an acceptable reason for anyone else…

Rules for thee and not for me…

Guessing Papalia is going to proclaim the amendment bill into law this week now they have more job security.

I thought the parliament clerks told them they couldn’t amend the law again and that’s why they are having the re-write

Pistol club guys who went to the forum say no changes for at least another year

The amendment is in place and has already been updated on the law portal. All done and dusted waiting for them to be proclaimed.

You can see at the below link that it is current.

@Gregfiddich beyond the basics of what you guys share, I have zero knowledge about WA laws. What are some of the negative (and maybe positive if any) highlights of the amendment?

Covered at the start of the thread and I have decided it is easier for me to tell you to scroll than to retype. Nothing was changed, all passed without edit.

The conditions surrounding FPO’s, the fact you can break the law as a shooting club if and FPO persons walks onto the property. Firearm precursor and technology ie blocks of aluminum, mills lathes and exploded views of guns along with reloading, eservicing and repairing your own firearms being also against the law.

But they have assured us it is fine as your gun license “covers” that stuff but didn’t want to write it in law, you know, until they decide it doesn’t and the law says it is illegal.

Sounds typical of the WA Law makers…very sketchy…

Saw this today, actually blood chilling.

Detective Sergeant Tania Mackenzie said police believe the men targeted the house because they knew there was a gun safe inside.

The stolen guns have been described as target pistols, used in a club environment, and police believe their presence at the home would not have been widely known.

Is it possible that his address was leaked by police when they released their map?

Sounds like time for a civil suit with plenty of zeros attached.

Highly likely. Also goes against their “just comply and you’ll be fine” mantra.

Kinda think this is what the clowns wanted. Cause more drama and then say it’s safer just to not have guns.

100%

Get headlines like this to ensure everyone thinks that it’s dangerous to own guns even if the owner is responsible, because they may still be stolen.

Then bring in more laws to limit the number of guns owned, make storage requirements even more expensive etc etc and so whittle down the number of people willing to own guns. If they want to be real word not allowed they’ll make you store guns only at a police station.

At the next election, roll out the numbers to show that your government has reduced the number of guns in WA and imply that that means the place is now safer.

That would be McClowns thinking…

Share it around.

Wasn’t the suburb that was on the front page but it’s not like the other side stick to the details.

We’re looking into this because it’s extremely serious; just want to make sure we’ve got Is dotted and Ts crossed before we start making noise publicly.

Gosh it almost sets a precedent for using a registered cat H firearm to prevent an armed robbery as a legal defence.

Its very possible that one of the police auxilary bimbos is some bikers mole, and gave the prick the info from the registry. It happened in Darwin on the 2000’s

Technically, there is nothing in Australian law preventing you from using a firearm to defend yourself if you can show you genuinely believed that lethal force was going to be used on you.

However, in reality, it would have to be a very very specific set of circumstances to be successful and the police would likely not prosecute in order to avoid a precedent.
