Making 12ga (almost) from hell brass

I drilled out the primer pocket in a bmg case and taped a thread in it without much trouble but Im having a prick of a time getting the die to bite into the bar.
Had to pack up and come inside, I’ll have another crack tomorrow.

Sounds like you need a primer pocket swaging kit.

See how he forms a new pocket… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkKJfvMyuDg

Getting There, a finer thread would be better but I don’t have the right drill bits for them atm

Well after a bit more stuffing around I now have 50 bmg brass that will take a shotgun primer.
Next step figure out a rim.

Nice! Looks like it’s working ok.

How did you bond the insert with the thread?

I haven’t yet but I was thinking of locktite, I still am not convinced that this route is the best but its well worth the experimenting.
The tap and die for the rim piece is gunna cost me a fair wack and so is the die holder. also I think im going to have to remove the same amount of material from the case to thread on the new rim as I do to press fit the magtec case heads.

I think this was mentioned in another thread somewhere but did not have the video as I went looking as I did not believe it.
Well this turned up in the youtube suggested watch list

Sadly I sold the rifled barrel!
But I bought a savage 212 to replace it, it kicks like a fucking mule though and my arthritic hands don’t like it.
I think a better stock would help, but the guns not with me ATM.
