Thanks for all the info.
I’m tempted to get it as an intro to centrefires. I’ve got access to property to shoot it, so I guess those foxes better watch out lol.

Dooooo ittttttt. Do it do it do it.
As much as I love Milsurps. Don’t buy that as your first centrefire.
Buy yourself an entry level Howa , Savage or Ruger.
Can get one with a scope for about $600 new. Even less second hand.
If the rifle is out of wack you may not know and waste stacks of ammo on a lemon.
Buy an entry price sporter rifle and be far happier with your first centrefire.
That’s a good point, that a modern centrefire would have less issues.
I think that store had a used Weatherby in 223 for $650 - so I guess I’m visiting them tomorrow anyway to have a look lol.
Thread hijacking… Let’s move this to its own thread.
I saw that and I can’t have it

Did you end up having a look at that Swedish Mauser?
Tempting and local to me. Stupid full safe.
Don’t make excuses, there’s always room for one more.
Also the still sell safes!
You know you’re gunna need more safes…
Have shot this model. Also shot Henry. If I had to choose, I’d go Browning (@Supaduke in 3…2…1…). But if I couldn’t, then Henry. They are neat though and they have ‘made in West Germany’ stamp, that’s pretty cool. And they are very smooth, but wood on Henry is way nicer and I suspect that Henry is nicer internally. Levers however, feel similar on the ones I used.
I own two Henry’s. I would gladly own another, enough said.
Most of the older .22 levers are well worn in by now. Assuming it actually functions nicely it should be good.
I like the browning levers, they have a slightly shorter LOP than Henry.
The longer stock and octagonal barrel tipped me in Henry’s favour.
I like Browning only because of the short throw! Henry is a better looking gun in every way lol. In fact…
Mmmm, no, I shouldn’t! Stop it!
@Nomis - Nah I didn’t get a chance to go in the end - got too busy.
Miroku is another good 22 lever option from what I’ve heard, though I think they’re just licenced made Browning lol.
But dude, you just sold me your black powder and all your caps
Yeah, I know…one day maybe…the cash was handy for .25-303 loading gear. The powder and caps would have sat around for too long, when someone who has a smoke pole could use it.
