Funny gun ads, for the lolz

I’d buy that Sportco. My one needs a friend, it’s surrounded by weird Europeans and Americans right now :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t forget about the strange man that comes in at night and fondle them.

Now for shits and giggles I sent them an email just enquiring as to why they do it, this is the response I got…

Hi, It’s because we can, and our customers don’t want to get a PTA for another gun that they only want parts off.

Take care,

Bruce

Full disclosure I wear a Tin Foil Hat.

I just wonder if any of their customers maybe in the business of repairing cut up actions? Certainly some of the guns I have seen sold. Larger Semi autos makes my conspiracy theory mind wonder.

I thought that about an m1 carbine they sold a while back.

What a rude response. Interestingly enough someone privately had very bad feedback about that shop. Poor everything, from customer service to logistics. I guess they reinforced that opinion in that email. Note to self - avoid shopping with them.

I thought the exact same thing. I wonder how many times they have been asked the same question…

1001, still no need to be rude, but I guess they have enough money and don’t need more customers. Good on them. LOL

I have dealt with them on several purchases from parts, to accessories and complete firearms and have found them to be absolutely first rate to buy from. I don’t think the response is rude, just to the point. At the moment, due to many legal changes, a lot of gundealers particularly in the rural areas are being flooded with guns and it is easier to chop them up and deregister than try to waste time and money advertising for sale to only get a minimum return. As an example, gundealer mate of mine is cutting up and scrapping (Sims Metal!) more than 40 double barrel shotguns and 22’s a WEEK! At least Wattle Grove is offering parts up to the public, which my mate generally isn’t. (Except for 303 bits which sell easily) Cheers.

I think it may be a difference of opinion here, @no1mk3. Personally, I think that email above was abrupt and rude. They are not talking sarcastically to mates, but to a potential customer. To the point, “because we can”, I think that’s more sarcasm and rudeness than efficient communication here.

Also, and this is not an insult or anything, but I think there’s different expectations between service for different generations. Personally, I expect polite, helpful and quick service for my money. I’d say I get that very, very, rarely in a gun shop.

The markups shops put on new guns are very thin (so I’ve been told) between 5%-15% so on a $1000 rifle is only $50-$150. So if they sold a “handed in” Gun for $200 they would be making more from a $200 sale than a $1000 sale.
Maybe there are legal restrictions in some states and circumstances so the Guns cannot be sold as Guns, they are sold as scrap after being cut.
Or it could just be there is a glut of hard to sell, lower value guns that its easier to chop up than deal with the paperwork, storage etc etc.
The ones I bought were just too much trouble to bother with the paperwork according to the seller, who was in Victoria.

I think what he means. The act of taking a picture, writing up a gun ad uploading it and posting whatever they pay to then have 5 day dreamers waste their time to eventually sell the gun maybe for 150 or 200 maybe is not worth it. Whereas a new gun while they make less, they do less work…a guy comes in looks at what’s on stock shit talks and may decide to put a deposit down.

I know my gunshop hates putting ads on

Still no excuse to cut up classic guns!

For the girl who has everything

Nice looking pistol, just the thing for a Lady around town.

It doesn’t look like it has been used before, it could be a first timer.

I still remember my first time

Me too.
It was the easter school holidays, we were away camping on the Murray. I think I was 5- 6, she was single, about 410, Brazilian. I fell completely in love with her.
She was a cheap strumpet and she’d been well used, but she popped my cherry and I’ll always remember her fondly :joy::grin:
