Did you look at the tactical or the American?
Mate it was the American.
How comfortable do you think the lever will be to operate. Iāve not seen one in person and it looks a bit awkward in videos Iāve seen.
Iām going to go on a limb here and say more comfortable than a traditional bolt action
And more comfy than the savage, whatever you call it.
Mate I didnāt have any trouble and I donāt think most people would. Ergonomically it seemed fine, nice and light also.
Maybe, cz with its pistol grip definitely felt steady offhand. Which action is better to cycle remains to be seen. The savage is certainly your more traditional shape.
Iāve never felt so meh about a new gun purchase. I own one but donāt have a realistic time frame till I can hold it, let alone actually shoot it. Feels weird.
Still not seeing any 515 Tacās appearing. Only the timber American. Leading me to believe the Tacās are sold out across Australia. Odd that I have yet to see anyone showing one off on social media or YouTube either. Would have thought some regional areas and interstate would have people taking possession by now.
I got the chance to handle the CZ 515 in wood at a gun shop today and while it handled and pointed really nicely, the lever release just wasnāt positioned well for my thumb and I had to move my hand awkwardly to actuate it.
Thatās $1100 I can put towards something else, I guessā¦
Shame Dougmo doesnāt know how to spell, and calls it a āSee-Zeeā shudder
I didnāt watch much past the first minute, mostly coz Iām not interested in the gun really, but I loved when he said āitās not about how good a shooter I am, coz Iām not! I just love gunsā.
My sort of guy, lol!
Well I got my red letter of registration on Friday. I officially have a CZ515 registered in my name.
I have not seen this gun, but I own it.
Judging by what I have seen online , those of us that snaffled a Tactical in .22lr have done well. Not many made it here in the first batch. Bloody Covid , lockdown is bad enough, now itās ruining my exclusive new toy bragging rights.
Maybe I should be a human turd , sell it for $2k to some impatient millennial.
Then buy it back in 6 months for half that, lol
You can bet someone will do just that.
You are all a bad influenceā¦ now I want one of these!
Supaduke has one for sale for the bargain price of 2 grand!
I had a look at both the normal & tacticool models at my LGS yesterday, itās probably the best setup out of all the lever release type guns iāve seen, should make for a very āefficientā rate of fire. Completely shite for lefties though so i wonāt be getting oneā¦
@JSS apparently itās ambi, you just move the lever to the other side, I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure itās been mentioned here and have read it somewhere.
My big hope is that the buzz around this is going to touch off a rush of lever release rifles.
It hasā¦ Varney Carron in many calibres, A22R in multiple variants, Cz 515 and tone of upmarket straight pulls if youād like lump them here too.
Thing is, hope donāt do much for manufacturers, money does. If people donāt buy them, there wonāt be more coming. Pretty simple. And from what Iāve seen to date (most of them), all of them are quality guns.
I see a bunch of people posting on FB, posting to the tune of oh this is hideous, oh this is this or this is that. We canāt have it both ways. What those posts do however, is discourage new shooters, who may be unsure or undecided. I am willing to bet that most of those comments (not all) come from a different place, like not being able to afford one. Sure, nothing wrong with that, but criticising stuff to make themselves feel better somehow is just discouraging to everyone else who may be on the fence.
Supply and demand, you ask for more, you will get more. We act like a cocks, we get nothing. Simples, just look at all the straight-pulls and all the fudds urinating in their nappies, shakes their fists yelling - no no no itās ugly, stick to walnut and steel. But what they really mean is, please donāt buy one, I am a cuck and I am terrified that this will piss the powers above off and they will ban my shotgun and I wonāt be able to go duck hunting.
Buy new stuff, buy weird stuff, buy bleeding edge stuff, buy black and tactical and scary looking, go to a public range and let people see it, let someone else have a go, this is the only way to get new people into sport and grow the community.
