…but also because it’s wanky I know it, you know it, I accept it. LOL
I admit the wanky part thats what I called it but for other reasons than its looks. This is a picture of a pretty common type of Target Rifle that would sell for about half the price. It would also out shoot the TRG’s and ACIS rifles any day of the week.
Below this is an Australian made target stock available from the Q store $1100 called the Wild dog.
So add an action $2300 and a custom cut rifling barrel fitted for $1000 and you are at the very pointy end of the target world. of coarse add accessories such as rear bag bipod and scope.
Agree 100% the reason I put it up was to show what shops charge for a shop built one.
Don’t forget the AI’s are built to survive operations even the harshest conditions in operations within a military environment, precision rifles get knocked around we’re not really comparing apples to apples here… alot of army’s have brough them to afghan and the like, i don’t think that target rifle would stand up to such harsh conditions and treatment the same way the AI would… might be ’ want factor ’ but that wank factor could also mean the difference between the rifle functioning and doing its job
I wonder if the AI’s are built to two different specs one for the military and one for general use. Reason I say this is that as we know Military chambers are made to accept any ammo and the bolts clearances as well as chamber also are made bigger to accept dirt and dust. All those larger tolerances are not great for accurate rifles.
My target action a Barnard is really much bigger and stronger than your average action I would take it to war any day. Same for the barrels the scope well that is a part used by the select group of military anyway.
I’m pretty sure those that use AI for ops have their own supply of ammo for that rifle.
They would have a standardized match round available with known ballistic values to the rifle which they can base any formulas along with their dope as secondary to their kestrals and ballistic calculators, i know Ai’s have been in service with the brits since the 80’s they replaced my favorite rifle the enfield enfocer
@GUN-DMC is this a birthday present hint?
Is this like the thing where i want a bergara rifle but can’t get it past my metaphorical wife so buy the bergara and give it to her only in the hopes she gives it to me?
Shmick looking gat though thanks for the tag
Gun hipster.
No mate, this is a long range target gun for you to pump!
Good solid action, 300 win mag chamber. What’s not to Love?
Sure I’d love it, it is a single shot after all, but it I shared it for you!
I really thought i wanted a 300 but everyone says it’ll be to much for me thats where i got to 6.5 and then i recently discovered 6.5 prc
I’ve got it narrowed to a tikka if some sort, the howa in the bifrost or krg stock, a ruger hawkeye m77 long range, i’ve still yet to price things locally, but have got it down to 26" barrel, verticle pistol grip, stock rather than a chassis, threaded barrel if possible, and a fully adjustable stock, alot of companies are jumping on the long range tacticool band wagon so theres so decent stuff coming out otherwise i’ll end up with the same issues as the lithgow, as i said long process, hoping to get a free weekend soon to pop into the local gunshop and see what they can offer, been a busy time of year! Been drooling at some of the guns you guys have been sharing though!
So I wonder, have you considered a scope ding ding ding more casharoo
