I think that they got them at the Sydney Mardi Gras.

Actually we first met at a cup shop, both loved that cup and well the rest is history…

But was it in Sydney… or worse Melbourne?

But back to the lathe proposition. I have an old small industrial type lathe and have done a few worthwhile jobs on it and used it as a drive for some unconventional uses.

I did try the little LE Wilson chamfer and de burr tool in in and just hold a case up to the spinning tool. I have to say this worked pretty well. In hind sight it may have worked to well and removed more brass than was really necessary. I never went to the point of turning the case mouth into a pointy sharp edge. However when you do it by hand it really only takes two 1/3 turns by hand to take any burr off the outside of the case after trimming.

For the inside chamfer for my special  308 cases I have a little tool that has a point on it that goes down into the case and centers itself in the flash hole and it also has a much steeper angle cutter. The center pin also acts as a depth gauge or stop so they can all be the same.

So that puts it back to the question what operations could a small lathe help you with in case prep or other home gunsmithing jobs?

Should of heard my teenage daughter spitting chips over this gem of news this morning, Lol!

Love it.

Bloody oath, first thing they have done in schools that made sense to me in a while!

It’s about time, every state should follow this.

Being of the period before mobiles were available (or the internet for that matter) I cannot imagine what school would be like with them.
Don’t they insist on kids having an Ipad in Primary and an Ipad or laptop in secondary these days?

except for WA, WA should build schools first, then follow.

Nah, skools are over rated. As long as you can spell your name all is good.

Here at least all the high schools require laptops or iPad, but our primary school doesn’t. They have laptops at the school that the kids use but they don’t belong to the kids and don’t Facebook and all that rubbish on them which is what they are trying to control, apparently cyber bullying on fb etc is a huge problem.
It’s not a problem that makes sense to me really, if you use caps lock against me I’ll get triggered! I think they need to sprinkle so concrete in the drinking water.

Come at me bro. LOL.

Realistically, our life’s are online and it is a very real and big problem and kids these days don’t understand that whatever you do will always be online. They need proper education from industry security professionals, not teachers. And law enforcement needs to move put of the 18th century and actually get proper resourcing. Kids have committed suicide over some of the extreme examples.

First day of my new job today, it’ll feel pretty good to do something more worthwhile than the dishes for a change!
