Tinfoil hat time

Not sure if anyone in WA is following the love affair between BHP and McGowan lately.

There have been two bills introduced to parliament pertaining to BHP with zero media releases.

yet when you search the premiers media releases they are all praises to BHP for something unrelated and nothing specific to the bills. The closest is the TESLA Nickel west deal but not specific to the changes to of the closure agreement.

I am not sure if it just my hatred of the man thinking everything he does is trying to screw people over but this bias towards BHP seems odd to me as other mining companies in WA have had significant things to warrant the premiers praise also. Just feels like something is changing hands.

Hopefully someone can calm my mind with some rational answer. If we didn’t have the internet to voice random theories I think we would all go crazy

Who is WA

Is that still part of australia?

I doubt it will be once the other states want to open back up!

I would be guessing that there is some under the table deals going on.

Wait until he is finished with politics and I bet there is a nice job waiting for him on the board.

Yeah, likely.

Looks like we’re gonna get some new toys soon.

If I recall correctly, the original contract went to the French because they were going to be $5b cheaper than the cost of building them here. Give $90b to a foreign country to save $5b, never made sense to me. Surely most of that money would have stayed in our economy, employing Australians, flow-on economy, etc.

The French ones were all going to be built in Adelaide

It’s ridiculous how fucked the project got though. It was originally supposed to be 50 Billion, with the first vessel being delivered in mid 2020s, and then it got blown out to 90 Bil with a 2035 delivery date. The French contract deserved to be cancelled.

The rumour going around is he was an ex sas ’ sniper ’

It was big news and the talk of the town when it happened, everyone had a theory

Well at least they picked someone qualified for the job.

Our army must have an abundant supply of “snipers”. Just about every ex-ADF bloke claims to have been one. ( There are a few exceptions, bentaz… )

Yeah i knew an old bloke who for years claimed to be not a sniper but ex SAS… Turns out he was an engineer which is still service but mustn’t have been exciting enough for him when talking shit in the pub or to other servicemen. Well he got his excitement when he got an OAM for something else (not military related) and the journos went digging and found the truth.

Yeah I’ve met few in my time.
My brother did the snipper course when he was at 6RAR. He said it sucked, all he got to do was estimate distances while laying in his own piss. Reckons it would be shit and was glad he never got posted into a position!
