That article misses a massive point: The layoffs of so many coal and mining workers in the US were met with political talking points about how workers will all need to be retrained to learn programming. Huffington Post in particular was DELIGHTED that evil white men were losing their jobs in climate destroying activities, and were peppering social commentary with ā€˜learn to codeā€™.

Then the big hand of fate turned directly on them, the mouthy journalists and so they too were told to ā€˜LEARN TO CODEā€™ after 40% of them lost their jobs.

The real issue here of course, is that coding does not exist, and is just fancy word salad for what is essentially computer programming. FIGHT ME!

Yes but you try to find an article that tells that truth, the net is full of poor me journoā€™s

Well thats what you get for listening to them!
J/K I get what you mean.

Thatā€™s why they have insurance. Pretty sure if we added what we pay in mandatory medicare and the medicare levy it would get us pretty good insurance.

Agree completely. I have a lot to say on this for various reasons but this isnā€™t the place.

All I will say is thank god for the pharmaceutical benefits scheme.

Or even better, we could do things like the more civilised countries and have full free medical for everyone and do away with private vultures making a buck from peoples health issues.

From what Iā€™ve seen of the NHS in England iā€™d rather be in the US and have to pay. No such thing as free medical, someone always pays as governments donā€™t make money, they take it.

I know, Iā€™m a pretty shit socialist.
