WA Gun Rally (February 8, 2025)

@ShootersUnion

Western Australia’s licensed shooting community MUST be heard - and as part of the opposition to Labor’s draconian gun laws, we are proud to be helping (alongside others) organise the WA Gun Rally, taking place in Perth on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

More details will be announced very soon, but in the mean time: Put the date in your calendars, and make sure you follow the QR code (or visit tinyurl.com/WAGunRally) to sign up and stay informed!

I really don’t think it is what is needed. I know people are feeling powerless and think this is the solution but knowing this gov i can’t see how it can help.

I foresee it will get violent and the govt will say “see these people are all dangerous and we need to disarm them for public safety!” And later when the violent instigators are exposed as WA police officers anyone promoting it will be labelled as Alex Jones.
At best they won’t get a permit to protest and will be forcibly moved on under threat of arrest, anyone arrested will no longer be deemed ‘fit and proper’

Unfortunately many WA shooters work in big holes and will take the dick for the big pay and vote with their unions and the current communist regime.
I think the only thing that can save shooting in WA is if all the shooters give notice, list their houses and start making very public plans to move east.
Or at least move east and just FIFO into WA, but spend there money elsewhere.

You can guarantee they are not going to stop until they take all the guns, close all the ranges.
This is just the tip, papilloma still has almost an inch n a half of shaft to give you!

Without getting into too many details, it’s not a march-through-the-streets type rally; it’s taking place in a singular location and all the appropriate permits etc - including those required by WAPOL - are being applied for.

The reality is that absolutely nothing else has achieved anything so far. The Police Minister literally told shooters “get another hobby”, and has been quoted multiple times stating things that are simply incorrect or irrelevant.

Numerous shooters have contacted their local MP about the laws, and been told “Tough luck, we support them” - or outright ignored.

The major newspaper there published a map with the locations of every gun owner in the greater Perth region, and yet multiple watchdogs - inlcuding the WAPOl Ethical Standards people and the Crime & Corruption Commission - said nothing wrong had happened.

Doing nothing at this point just tells every single anti-gun activist and politican in the country that gun owners can be ignored because they won’t speak up, and that is absolutely disastrous for all of us, and completely unacceptable.

Hope there’s a good turnout.

Honest question… Do you think the cocksuckers are likely to grant them?

But what is the desired outcome? Papalia walking out the door and going " okay, okay you guys are right i was just fooling".

At this point getting the voting public to oust labor should be our full attention. Sending a message to deaf politicians just before an election just doesn’t seem like the right move if it risks even a little opportunity it can be used to put off the voting public from supporting shooters and giving Labor any form of promotion.

Yes, we do. And even if they don’t, we’re investigating (legally compliant) alternative options.

Broadly, part of the desired outcome is showing that shooters do actually exist and are willing to speak up about their mistreatment publicly. Right now, the narrative being pushed by the WA Govt and media is that there’s hardly any gun owners in WA so these laws don’t affect “real people”. They need to understand that these laws aren’t just being enacted against theoretical “others”, and that there are actual people negatively impacted by these laws, and collectively they are saying “Enough!”

The public in WA already hate shooters so we’re not trying to win them over - we’re trying to send a message to politicians etc that shooters will stand up for themselves publicly and are sick of being bullied by a dictatorial government.

As we said before: The rest of the country is watching. Doing nothing is not an option, and hoping enough people hate Labor for other reasons and vote them out in March is not a viable strategy on its own either.

If WA takes the “better not cause a fuss approach”, other states will start going “Hey, we can shaft gun owners too and there will be absolutely no consequences! Look what happened in WA; none of the shooters did anything about it so that means we can get away with it too.”

Im with @ShootersUnion with their reasoning Just to be visible as law abiding citizens enjoying their sport and part of the community is a good first step. You wont change the governments ideas but you can influence the public and combined with other issues change the government.

Be good if they all showed up in their work clothes / uniforms so people can see they are their doctors, mechanics, teachers, soldiers, Ambos, whatever. Just ordinary people like them.

Agree @ShootersUnion perhaps a No cammo policy could be suggested. or perhaps a dress formal suggestion

It’s an absolute shit fight but at least its something i suppose, the sheep farmers did it and it actually worked out quite well for them. I’d expect a heavy police presence, wanding for ’ weapons ’ and for it to be shut down pretty quick. Be interesting to see the outcome. I’m at work that weekend but will keep a close eye on it.

“Dress nicely, and behave yourselves” is part of the messaging going out. One of the reasons we’re keeping the focus purely on the firearm laws is to expressly exclude all the COVID-19/Government Conspiracy stuff.

While we’re still finalising a few permits etc, we can say it’s a rally taking place in a single location, in central Perth, and not a march through the streets.

This is exactly what we need, There has been no reason for gun law change here in WA, we have the strictest guns laws of all states, People are being Dictated to by a rouge government, the government was elected to look after the people and all the labor government (liberal are no better) is doing is enforcing laws to shut normal hard-working people down, the gun laws are just the start of it, once WA falls the rest of Australia will follow, you people out there that don’t see this, Please open your eyes and look through labor and Liberal. I, my wife and my friends will be at this rally to make a stand against this government, Sack Labour 2025.

I’m sure some non WA people watching on are assuming this rally is happening in isolation and in response to no action taken by other groups.

Caveat, i don’t support the rally personally, but don’t begrudge others that want to do it. At the end of the day, the only people we should be slinging shit at is labor.

In any case i just wanted to put it out there to try and put perspective on the hesitancy of this rally held by some in the WA firearms community.

I am personally happy with the main efforts tried below, no the current gov didn’t roll over to these actions, but in the same way i feel, they won’t roll over with the rally.

Live media interviews on both tv and radio. And not just one or two, every time Papalia or cook or the commissioner gave a Media release, Wafca secured a spot or two to counter them on commercial media.

Print media they ran full page ad in the paper and two or three opinion pieces in the farm weekly and such. This one was funny to me as a regional person because it forced Papalia to run his own article in the farm weekly to counter which he would not have done otherwise since he doesn’t give two shits about the farmers.

Also need to say SU have been very good with media as well over our issues here.

Meetings were held with wapol fairly regularly but about as productive as you get with bureaucrats but at least dialogue occured.

Firearms Forums held in nearly every electorate giving the shooting community direct opportunity for dialogue with the respective lib, nat members.

Lobbying political parties, this is a big one i feel that may prove beneficial but won’t have any immediate effects. Unfortunately, politics is no longer about listening to the will of the people. It’s about special interest groups that either positively impact polling or just contribute to political fundraising. Very shit in my eyes, but it is what it is. A good example is the alana and madeline Foundation, a tiny group but a big political sway, all because of positive polling.

Anyway, I just wanted to air this for some perspective given that there are far fewer WA crew on here than East Coast.
