Think I am going to be hooked on shotgun

G’day gents. I went to a gun club today and watched a few groups go through a field and game course.
Looks like a bloody lot of fun. Great bunch of blokes and lady’s, friendly as anything. Think I will explore this discipline a bit in the future just with a club gun at first to see how I go.
Anyone on here shoot shotgun?

Not at a club, but anytime I have to write down my religion i write shotgun!
Mostly shoot vintage and antiques though.

I used to drop by a local clay range once in a while, but I generally shot on my own. If it’s an active club where people are social and hang around after a shoot for drinks, it’s really nice.

Shot down the line trap for a while, my son was very keen but lost interest, good fun but not a cheap afternoon when you’re paying for two

Thanks for the replies gents. I am a hunter mainly doing a little bit of social target shooting, not in competition. I haven’t shot comp since I was a kid and from memory it did tend to be a bit intense.
The people I met up here at the Darwin club seemed like a great bunch of people. Relaxed and friendly. No one seemed to care who was winning, they were encouraging every competitor. Never seen anything like it.

Sounds like a good scene.

Exactly like most private handgun clubs, tbh.

Sounds like my pistol club, most are farmers and no one cares who is best. Good part is the drinks and get together afterwards.

Couldn’t agree more mate. I don’t really care who I beat or vice versa. Be great to have a go and as you say, a few beers at the end with good people.

The only one that you have to beat is yourself as in to better your previous score. Other than that it should just for fun.

I used to shoot at Mickett Creek! Its a ripper club. Really nice this time of year, how good is the five stand and the elevated skeet?

Sporting clays is a great way to keep your eye in during the off season and the Mickett Creek club is especially friendly.

Happy to lend you my old 101 i picked up a couple of years ago to have a crack if you would like mate. It’s rough around the edges but it’s s honest old girl that still shoots well and safely
