Apologies, I may not have explained myself properly haha. I meant more along the lines of if the original owners were content to slap a few coats of paint on it in its beat-up old state, maybe they wouldn’t be inclined to take care of the internals either? I was under the impression a lot of older Mausers have had that dirty surplus ammo fired through them too at some point.
Looks like it was a real diamond in the rough though, I am still amazed by your efforts and the end result.

I thought that may be what you meant. If I see rust on the outside of a barrel I am certainly going to be suspect of the same on the inside. That type of condition is certainly not what I would by sight unseen not knowing just how far the neglect goes. Unless it would be worth it for parts that I had use for if the gun was a dud.
