The big fat COVID-19 thread.

Location, location, location.

This is the best way to describe WA’s covid success.

Think so. This is the exact same realisation I’ve been having. That Australians (not all, but enough) rather stick their hand out for a handout and be told when to sleep and when to shit, rather than use our own head and focus on self reliance.

This is a new realization?

Yeah.

Funny, there doesn’t seem to be any covid at the Afghan airport!
None of the troops are even wearing masks, yet I need one to put the bins out! I guess my bins are a super spreader event!

Perhaps they just think there may be bigger risks at hand. They may also be vaccinated.

The Americans are.

Listening to the news this morning and the WA police chief is getting a new job for a while. He will taking on the position of Vaccine Commander. What I find interesting is the language. Very military the term Commander.

So he’s the commissioner of police, state of emergency coordinator and now the vaccine commander.

Lockdown is having a knock on effect on the forum. Because so many cant get out and have a shot it seems the post count is down a bit.
We should have more posts having more time at home and not in sight of the boss watching what is on the computer screen.

A good time for some how to articles or some reviews on equipment that we have brought or already own…

If she had applied a gold standard lockdown we wouldn’t be as deep in the shit as we are now.

I think she’s done a much better job than VIC  Building walled gardens is for idiots. Works for smaller states, but not for major hubs.

You may be right. However that was not the stated intention of the “plan” to start with. Only after it was Fubar due to various fuckups was it changed to vaccinations being the way forward.

Vic has been the Gold standard of the lockdownistan method and it looks like it’s only half a step behind NSW now anyway.
It’s time to…

Far ken Oath !! two years of state of emergency and lockdowns should have given the states enough time and money to prepare hospitals.

I say this because our dictator has done little with our hospitals which is why he is afraid of opening up, all of that excess royalty cash has gone into politicing instead of health care.

514 cases, fuck you NSW - we are coming for your title! Another few weeks and you will be in the dust! Muahahahahaha. Winning!

This! How anyone in their right mind can still vote Labor in Vic after many years, well before Covid, of financial destruction is beyond me. I mean, I know how, it’s people who don’t pay taxes like the Greens, I mean, the unemployed, and I suppose they need a strong Kim to lead them on the shortest path through this turbulent times to their nearest Centerlink office.

Spot on @Gregfiddich

So, after a recent visit with my doctor, he asked if I was vaccinated. “No, should I be?”, was my reply.
We then had a discussion about pro’s, con’s, facts vs fiction, efficacy, likelihood of complications, etc.
He advised me that considering my compromised health that I “may” be at risk of potential harm if I were to get infected. Outcome was that I have received my first dose of Pfizer, ( I’m 55 ), another due in a couple of weeks. No side effects apart from a sore arm later that evening, fine the next day.
As part of the conversation he mentioned that the death rate as a result of “severe” infection was about 1%. The trouble with “first world” countries, is that our society won’t accept that. There is a perception that we can achieve zero, head up arse thinking, but that is what people want.
The problem is that the vaccines are only a “buffer” at best. The paperwork you are given prior to and after the shot, clearly states that they don’t prevent you from being infected, don’t prevent you from being infectious and at best “may” reduce the severity of infection. The fact that the companies that produce them have been given immunity from prosecution over any negative outcomes puts a big question mark over their “absolutely safe” claims.
Anyway, I can only go with my doctors advice, trusting that he has my best interests at heart and not just “toeing” the Government line. Time will tell.
