Sane, loaded to Lee 1oz slug specs.
A few 577-450 loaded today. I do like that round, but it is a pain to load… Punch wads, make wax cookie sheet and lube bullets.
Then, powder, filler, wad, wax, more wads, bullets. Almost feel disappointed when I shoot it.
Stages of life
Process in full swing.
Pew pew.
Now, I really want a Snider
@1Fatman fyi
They look like Art. Think of the achievement every time one goes off. Then think if you were churning out 223 on a Dilion 650 or the like how you would feel just like a machine operator rather than an artisan.
I agree and shooting it is like drinking a fine scotch you don’t much to appreciate it.
@juststarting you say you couldn’t be stuffed with muzzle loader but looking at your loading process for the MH you’re basically already doing it, just muzzle loading into brass cases.
Just an observation.
It’s actually a lot more involved than muzzle loader, but I can have a batch of cartridges to load. With ML it’s one at a time. Also, I had to draw a line somewhere
Dont mention the 22 line:rofl:
What’s a 22 line?
The line you crossed when all 22’s were off limits and hated. Then well, it was one and as we all know it multiplied.
Then there was the hitting nearly rock bottom and became a bullet caster, scrounging for lead.
I don’t know what you are talking about. You are confusing me with someone else.
Have you tried loading the MH with just your powder and a lubed bullet? You can have space in a blackpowder cartridge if you don’t use wads.
Also, I hope you are cleaning that lube off the bottom of the bullets, a clean, dry base is what you need.
Bullets are clean… Regarding no wads and filler, no I haven’t. Everything I’ve seen so far suggests a wad and grease cookie, so that’s what I go with. Seems to work alright, so I just stick to it. I just plink with it, make a smokey bon once in a while, so no big deal.
A while ago I purchased some 577-450 cases… That were machined, rather than drawn. Made by some NZ armoury. I noticed that the cases are straight-wall (think 45-70), however they are shaped correctly and chamber fine. Wall thickness on this cases is huge, like another chamber! After thinking what could be done, @GUN-DMC suggested trail boss, so TrailBoss it is!
Should be fun.
Baby zombie dinosaurs watch out!
Bit of 357 work… I have a bag of mixed brass, so I thought, meh, let’s load this mothers up. I think I got a little carried away. 2205 measure so well from a thrower, I just couldn’t stop
I have 100 more to go, because the thrower is set and cases are primed, just a shame not to capitalise on that.
After that… Going to make some 44MAG thumpers
Oh, aren’t they pretty!
Almost a pity to shoot them :). My first attempt at powder coating and pretty happy with how they turned out. Had a few rejects where they stuck together or to the grill. Next weekend will be some 357 mag
