I have been trying desperately to find the reason (s) for prohibiting S&W M&P 5.7x28 semi automatic pistol in NSW? The NSW Firearm Registry is not that empathic or sympathetic,
Thank you vincerli. I was not enquiring about ballistic charts, I was asking whether anyone knew the reason why S&W M&P 5.7x28 was PROHIBITED in NSW ONLY?
I already own Ruger 5.7x28mm and have fired about 200 rounds which are not cheap @ $ 84/50.
Most reviews on YouTube continually stress Ruger’s 5.7x28mm very mild recoil!? I would disagree here: its recoil is little less than 9mm semi automatic. Again, depending on the 9mm ammunition and barrel length. Most of my 9mm pistols (3 of 5), have 6" barrels.
I have no idea about NSW (which is unhelpful I know) but the difficulty obtaining one in QLD for sporting shooters is finding a discipline that lists it in it’s approved pistols.
Pistol metallic sillhouette is out, Steel Challenge is out, IPSC, WAM, NRA/Action Match, ISSF…
I shot a FN57 the other day, I should have asked what his genuine reason for obtaining one was.
There are other guns on the Cleavers site marked illegal in NSW but aren’t. It says Ruger 22-45 Lite is banned, but I have one, just bought from a shop and registered same as an other .22.
I don’t see a use for a 5.7 for me, be rad if we could pistol hunt though…
I’d like a cadet rifle chambered in it now that I think about it!
Mango, just something different.
I am a little tired shooting .22RL, 9mm, 38spec, 357mag a lot.
Roger 5.7x28 is nice gun but I want to buy S&W M&P 5.7x28 at Cleavers because it is reportedly even better. I have been to Cleavers just after Christmas to pick up 5.7 ammunition. I like the shop! I am in Sydney. Thanks for answering.
A rifle in 5.7x28 would be nice because it would be faster than a pistol Bentham. Thanks for answering.
