NT Collectors License Requirements?

I just got this email from the firearms division,

Good morning Firearms Collector Licence Holders,

We are writing to remind you of the requirement to ensure that all firearms held under your Firearms Collector Licence must be rendered temporarily incapable of being fired by the removal and separate storage of the bolt or firing pin or by a trigger lock, or by another method approved by the Commissioner, as required by regulation 19(b) of the NT Firearms Regulations 1997.

Failing to comply with this requirement is a breach of the conditions of the licence and can result in a revocation of the licence.

We encourage you to take immediate action to secure your firearms as per the requirements in the regulations.

If you have any questions or need further clarification, please don’t hesitate to contact our office.

Thank you for your attention on this important matter

Does anyone know what “ or by another method approved by the Commissioner”.

just put trigger locks on them , they say thats acceptible. look up act on mr google be there 19(b)

might mean permanetly deactivated. call plod, but trigger lock sorts you out and easy.

It just means that you can come up with any other method of achieving the intention of the act, so long as the police commissioner agrees that it does the job.

Here in NSW (as everywhere) there are specific rules around how pistols are to be stored, but if you have say a bank vault you can ask the commissioner to approve that as your storage even though it probably doesn’t have the correct number of locking bolts, but exceeds the expectations.

It just leaves room for other common sense ways of achieving the aim.

wtf!!

Deleted, @vincerli - I got a little too excited and misread. lol

Thanks, trigger locks it is.
Strangely they don’t say anything about firearms that you shoot.
