So I wonder and would love someone to chime in on this…
Motor oil, works under extreme heat and pressure. I don’t know if it does or does not have rust inhibitors… But if some synthetic oil does, why wouldn’t people use it as gun oil?
Just seems like a product thats made specifically for this use case.
I dont see why not it has all the correct properties even has some stickyness to it like chainsaw bar oil so it doesnt all sit in the sump. Compare it to like quality real purpose gun oil like sweets or Kg12 and it is identical. both have more volume like motor oil ect.
But engine oil is only $60 for four litres opposed to gun oil for $20 per 100mls. How dare you even imagine such a thing!
I can’t see why it wouldn’t work to be honest, maybe you should give it a whirl and do a side by side experiment with a couple of guns. A fresh clean & lube on both then a few thousand rounds over six months or so should give you an indicator if there’s any difference between the two oils.
This is interesting, No#3 best lubricating oil (mobil synthetic motor oil)
