Can I ask an expert here? Not @juststarting
Does it really matter in practice if the bolt has a bit of extra clearance? I mean, as long as the lugs lock up nice and even isn’t that what counts?

On Mosin, Nyet! Comrade, even lugs are optional.
I don’t think it would matter but would just be sloppy and would end up like a tikka
Yeh. No expert here. But I’ve seen some pretty sloppy bolts over the years and yet the rifle will shoot great. So my simple conclusion is it’s not super important.
I reckon Howa bolts are pretty sloppy and they shoot pretty good. I think good, true lug contact, good, true bolt face and a true and concentric barrel/chamber/action interface has most effect on a rifle’s precision.
Yeh. Hence my 2 cheap Marlins with pined lugs seem to shoot pretty good if you feed them what they like.
