Try these guys!

Yes it had a home made rail. Looked like shit

In the Omarks previous life it was cut down for a woman so i had to come up with a extension. I have different size alloy spacers so will adjust to suit once i start shooting.

G’day,

I’ve been chasing after a Davies bipod for f class competition but having no luck so I was thinking of building one as I’m an old boilermaker. I came across your post and I was wondering if I could ask for the blueprints/drawing/dimensions of the Davies bipod so I can have a go at fabricating one up myself. Any help would be much appreciated

Have a look at the VRA store and the QRA store I think you will find them. I have seen them in the VRA store before several years ago.

G’day,

Yeah, I’ve checked both stores and they no longer have the Davies bipod. So hence myself asking for the basic dimensions for the Davies bipod so I can build one up myself.

@Gregfiddich ^^^

I dont believe the VRA website they seem to be advertising basic commercial stuff they must be trying to attract more people to the store.
I would still read the posts of ozfclass there is a guy there that is making new bipods called joy pods from memory they have a joy stick like the SEB rests. There are also others that make the Davies or similar designs. The construction may seem easy but there are subtle things in the construction that are important. I am a die hard DIY and would not make one from scratch. I have modified a very old one but then replaced it with a newer style of the same design from VRA store as a walk in.

joypod

The smaller fat one was made by a gun smith about 50 years ago it used to have flat feet that would move forward and back allowing it to move with the gun under recoil with the feet supposedly staying still in theory. I replaced them with the subs. I later bought the thiner lighter one which has plastic skids. Making the anschutz rail connector would be difficult they both seem to have steel inserts for that part.

I have one you can buy. Not sure what they sell for but I’m unlikely to use it again in any hurry.

Might take me some time to find it. Its still stashed away in a moving box.

There’s also this.

Will do it today, been on the road the last few days.

Sungazer: Yeah, that’s understandable and Q store is the same way as well. I’m a DIY as well (surprise, surprise) but don’t give me anything with timber as I’m hopeless working with timber but give me metal any day  Thanks for sharing the photos as well, gives me a lot of ideas since I’m studying CNC machining and have a mate who runs one.

Yeah, funny you mention the anschutz rail connector, I own a Tikka T3 which is now in a similar tube gun kit and the fore end has a slot for an anschutz handstop to be fitted. A mate of mines has a Davies bipod with an adapter that was a tight fit but it worked really well when I borrowed it. So I’ve been spoiled and have been looking for one ever since.

Gwion: That would be fantastic and would your bipod have the anschutz rail adapter? All in good time, I’m in no rush

Gregfiddich: Fantastic stuff! Thanks mate, much appreciated. I would imagine the bolts are in different sizes, both M8 and M10 from the looks of them?

Also, have attached photo of my Tikka tube gun to give an idea of what I’m talking about.

Yep. Anschutz rail. Same as in pics above.

How easy is that bolt to remove? The big difference in the NRAA is you can point the gun anywhere but must not have the bolt in it. Removed and placed in the gun on the mound facing target. Eliso also made a gun very similar it was a complete pain in the arse.

All M6. The two i put in the top are not normal as i used them to hold the pic adapter. Usually just has the T slot there.

Gwion: The anschutz rail adapter will work perfect for this Tikka tube gun, please let me know how you get on in finding the bipod.

Sungazer: Errr. Not difficult really, pretty straight forward, the buttstock can be removed easily by pushing down on a button on the pistol grip and it can be taken off to allow the bolt to be removed. Funny though, I’ve never had to be asked to remove the bolt as I was told by the ROs at the full bore range to use an ECI instead of messing around with the rifle to get the bolt out so go figure. The Eliseo is a great piece of kit, I almost bought one but a mate offered me a very good deal on the last tube gun kit from WR and let me have my pick of colours hence the blue on my Tikka, absolutely love it and it is a real tack driver

Gregfiddich: Awesome! Much appreciated, thanks again mate.
