LIST: Firearms, shooting and reloading podcasts

If you are like me and spend considerable or consistent amount of time on public transport or behind the wheel, I recon this is a good way to spend the time. I prefer to consume media, podcasts, etc. on my terms, not someone else, so this fits into this lifestyle choice very well.

A definitive list in progress of good firearms related podcasts with honest, brutal (if needed) reviews. I will be updating this list as we go. If anyone posts a link, I will add it to the top post. I find that it’s probably the easiest way to keep track of firearms podcasts, instead of searching various networks all over the place. I will also have some honourable mentions, nothing to do with firearms, but interesting…

Firearms, shooting, hunting and reloading podcasts

Australian Hunting Podcast (homegrown :australia:)
Link: http://australianhuntingpodcast.com.au
Excellent podcast. Show hosts discuss a range of hunting, fishing, shooting, law and politics topics. They interview a bunch of interesting people and talk moderate amount of shit. Love it.

Australian Precision Shooting Podcast (homegrown :australia:)
Link: https://impactdynamics.com.au/podcasts
The show was about precision rifle shooting, tools, techniques and firearms. I quite enjoyed it and I thought the content was excellent in the earlier episodes. However, over time I find that they have dropped the ball, all of them. Lately I think it’s a lot of useless randomness and I find myself listening to the first few minutes of the show, then skipping the rest and deleting it from the queue. The focus has also shifted from all sorts of interesting stuff, to, lots of PRS dribble, general chit chat between hosts that’s not really interesting nor useful. And hanging shit on left handers for some reason (perhaps an in-joke that is well past its use-by date, but nobody told them). Really hopping they find their way back to awesomeness.
—update—
Don’t know what changed, maybe they saw this, probably not, but the show seems to have returned back to normality. Rainbows and unicorns again.

Hunting HQ (homegrown :australia:)

Just listened to an episode. I like it, lite enjoyable listening. I haven’t listened to many episodes yet, but from what I heard so far it has a lot of potential and is added to my playlist. Just good, nothing else to add.

Reloading Podcast
Link: https://firearmsradio.tv/reloading-podcast
Another excellent podcast. As the name suggests, reloading. Show hosts discuss a range of ‘howto’ topics, from beginner to advanced, talk about gotchas, subtle nuances, etc. Answer questions and interview bunch of interesting people. Fun fact: @Jim_Fleming is one of the hosts and a dedicated crash test dummy for ageist jokes.

Going Ballistic with Ryan Cleckner
Link: https://www.goingballisticpodcast.com
Former special operations sniper, lawyer, author talks all things firearms. Very US-centric, but I like it. Good lite listening. Lately it has been a little ‘spammy’ with not so subtle product placements and ego stroking, but a good podcast nevertheless. Good lite listening.

Gun Guy Radio
Link: http://www.firearmsradio.net/category/gun-guy-radio
Really good, chilled, not political bs podcast on various firearms topics. I really enjoy it. Just needs more episodes! Moaaar!

MeatEater
Link: http://www.themeateater.com/podcasts
Meat eater is a good podcast, US, Canada, Alaska focused. Excellent audio quality. Ads have crept in recently, typically one at the start and one in the middle, but they’re easy to skip. He interviews a lot of really interesting people covering a wide diversity of topics related to hunting and fishing. I’d be very surprised if listening did not increase your understanding of wildlife management.

Do you know of any other podcasts? Would you like to add something new to this list? Post a replay and your opinion on it and I will include it in the top post. Honest review is good.

Meat eater is a good option, but it is obviously US-Canada-Alaska focused. The audio quality is much, much better than some of the Australian podcasts. Ads have crept in recently (typically one at the start and one in the middle) but they’re easy to skip. He interviews a lot of really interesting people covering a wide diversity of topics related to hunting and fishing and I’d be very surprised if listening did not increase your understanding of wildlife management.

Just discovered a new Australian hunting podcast, Hunting HQ

Haven’t listened to it yet, but looks promising.
