Gday stranger.
How the hell are ya?

Hey mate
Not too filthy, thanks for asking.
How’s your own self?
Firing on all cylinders since they knifed you?

Goto say I was worried about you 10 months is longer than I thought you last posted but It was too long. Glad to hear that all is well

G’day SG

No mate nothing amiss, but the concern is appreciated.
I simply tired of the world and went back to being a hillbilly hermit for a while.

I’m looking forward to testing James’s new pills.

I’m going to film these impacts as well as the usual stills of the autopsy.

Cheers mate, glad to hear your well. Im doing good too, probably 95% recovered, working, shooting and enjoying life again.

Outstanding :muscle:

I’ve been busy making razors for Sweeney Todd.

Here’s one I prepared earlier,

I’m just about to work up some loads to test the 69, 77, and 80gn Rexem pills, but the ADI load data doesn’t have 2208 listed for 77gn pills
I’ve been going through the googling process without success.
Has anyone used 2008 powder with 77gn hpbt

I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS!!! Hahaha. Welcome back Gazza! I’m assuming you have your hard hat and blast proof undies for when those 80’s hit that ballistic gel! Woop!

The website censorship software won’t allow me to post the youtube link because it thinks there’s an offensive slur in the jibberish string assigned by youtube as the link.

Below is a link to the google result for Rexem Facebook page, because I’m not a fan of the Zuck and can’t share it directly either.

Just my personal opinion I think the 69grn are prob the sweet spot. The big advantage again IMHO is that in the 223 velocity is the key factor in doing the work.

For target work sure the 80s may provide better wind bucking abilities but again only if you can push them fast enough.

Ive done the homework on 30 cal bullets and although there are a fair few people that think 200grn bullets are the go for bucking the wind the best you have to push them to the limit of the cartridge and beyond to actually achieve much benefit over a 155 or 168 grn projectile. This is not just my opinion based on ballistic programs but I have also confirmed it with members of the Australian world cup team. They also did the research and came up with the same results there are very definate velocities that need to be achieved to gain benefits.

Load data @Gaznazdiak

Varget is what 2208 is sold under Stateside.

I also updated filters, you can post your link now.

Excellent, thanks for that :beers:

I’m impressed on several levels by the 80gn Pig Hammers from Rexem.
For years I’ve laboured under the misapprehension that a 9 twist couldn’t stabilise anything over 73gn.
Even Hornady were one of those who assured me I couldn’t stabilise long pills with a 9.
Then, along comes James at Rexem, and builds 80s that are not only providing reasonable groups without even fiddling, but fit 80gn into the same length case as used for the 69gn I’ll be testing.
Add to that the fact that they really deliver some serious butthurt and I have a new favourite projectile.
Sorry 62gn, it was sweet, but Ive fallen in love with your fat sister now :sunglasses:

I was unable to do my usual autopsy because, although the block appeared structurally ok at the target point, it had fallen to pieces by the time I got it to the house, it was so badly disrupted.

As can be seen in both the stills and the video, these projectiles dump most of their energy in the first couple of inches.
The core and rear of the pill, while expanding to ~20mm and still weighing over 46gn, did not make it out of the block.

To be continued…

LOVE THIS GAZNAZ!
Gonna have to give some a go when I get through these 69’s.

Update on the 80s.

I was prepared to do a 200m block test today, but upon checking the group size, discovered that the 100m group was a fluke.
At 22gn at 200m my rifle threw them around unpredictably.

With some experimenting, I found that 24.5gn of 2208 and a COAL of 60.1mm gave me this group at 200m

I’m inappropriately impressed with these size 80 girls in a size 69 dress, but they’re racey dames, they like it hot.

G’day RH,

I seriously think these are the best projectiles I’ve ever used in 51yrs of shooting.

I don’t work for Rexem, I just love the magic
