Very high on the cool factor. Is it a real one or one of the mock ups with a sleeve instead of suppressor? Be an interesting conversation starter.
Its a replica.
I’m torn on it. From a historical point of view I don’t like the idea of replicas but at the same time, owning a genuine one is impossible.
Cool fun gun, at the right replica price…
Sorry if this is too off topic but has anyone noticed a slight drop in prices of Milsurps in recent weeks? In the last few weeks I’ve seen a couple of SMLEs go up for about $800. A Jungle Carbine for $1000. A Swiss K11 for $1000 (not sure if this is cheap, you just don’t really see them).
I’m just not sure if this is real or if it is confirmation bias on my part as I so desperately want it to be true.
I had noticed the same thing, I guess with a bit of economic downturn shops are trying to get some turnover through
If we are talking the same jungle carbine, it’s a mismatched parts gun really, so maybe worth 1k…not worth 1k to me anyhow
I was going to call him up and ask but if I’m honest I can’t really afford it at the moment so I was resisting. Haha.
If it’s still there, it’s mismatched. It won’t have much of a collector value and as a shooter there are better guns. Couple of years ago at the arms auction they (miss matched) were going for $700, and that’s where people go crazy and pay crazy… I don’t see how it could be any more than that on used guns website, where there’s minimal seller fee. I wouldn’t do it out of principle. And if it’s a must have, then you’ll hate it for being incomplete. And if its - like to shoot it, you’ll hate it for being overpriced. If you want one, save for a good example and wait. Prices won’t be going up for a while.
By the way, I’m trying to get a better look at that bolt handle, really bad photos make it hard. Initially I thought I saw it being hollowed out, but looking at it now, it seems to be solid. If that’s the case, it’s not just mismatched, it’s an entirely wrong bolt, which is most fucking definitely not a $1000 or even $700 gun.
Yeah I was going to offer $700 if it was mismatched. Decided to just leave it. I’ll get one I’m happy with one day.
A mate of mine, who.is a No5 magnet, has about 10, rang him and the guy said straight up, it’s a parts gun. So as JS said, it’s not worth 1k
To be fair, the ad does say ‘negotiable’. What would be a fair price if it does have a genuine (but mismatched) No 5 bolt? $600? $700?
It doesn’t. There’s no hole in the handle, if you zoom on those photos.
I zoomed in and still couldn’t tell.
Depends how good the barrel is, but sight unseen 700 might be a fair price.
Here’s a crazy idea @Nomis. If you are willing to drop that sort of cash on a mismatched gun and you already have something in 303 chamber and action… Consider Cadet. Unique enough, common enough, milsurp enough, can be had for less than $300. And that’s not even the best part!
We all know you’ll eventually get into casting and reloading. I mean, you don’t know, but we know… Cadet brass is available, cast bullets are sold and moulds are available, black powder is available (yes, black powder breach loading cartridge ammo - win on all fronts), dies are available and press… Mmmmm.
How’s that for a suggestion. And you will have bunch of useful gear, cool little gun and no regrets about missing bolts
correction
Smokeless powder! Not BP. Mybad.
Oh don’t worry, it’s on the list.
Mate, after this spiel it’s on my list too! I hate myself.
Cadets are awesome. Do it!
What you people dont have cadets?? Now I’m worried…
