Game: What's that gun?

Could always join a knitting forum I hear they are very good.

I got kicked off

Maybe we should have a competition for who can find the ugliest gun…

Ahhhh, the equivalent of a claratyne and a cold flannel for our eyes after DMC gave us all a dose of welders flash by showing that “thing” without warning us to shield our eyes

Is it a colt?

Was it called something else before the name that it is known by?

Yes it’s a colt

I could be wrong but I think it’s only got one common name/designation…

This revolver has had 2 names in it’s lifetime, but the early, original model name, was quickly dropped. But have a look at this, it ISN’T a Colt!

Is it a .36 Calibre?

Hang on, I’m confused. Has No 1 put up a new revolver to guess, or is he telling us that I posted isn’t a Colt?

Dragoon?

Not 100% sure but his picture is different to yours as yours has a longer barrel. Plus the cylinders are different, no1’s has more notches.

Just showing it’s different. the obvious is the half cocks notch in the cylinder. The one Bent_arrow has put up was made in both barrel lengths as well, but is the original to mine (lawsuit pending!) and still has to be formally identified by make and model. Just saying it did have 2 names, but by the look of it no one here will know the original name only the common one. Eventually!

GUN_DMC has the start, and Bent_Arrow is right, his post is a Colt

Ok then, is It a colt peacemaker?

I don’t think it’s a peacemaker. I think it’s a little more salty :stuck_out_tongue:

Not a peacemaker. The picture I posted is a percussion cap revolver. I’m pretty sure the name “peacemaker” is a term attached to the “single action army” revolver which shoots metallic cartridges (45 Colt), and wasn’t released until 20 years or so after the revolver in my picture.

I think I know the original name. It’s actually cooler than the one that stuck

Yes, I thought so too. Sort of fits better with how they were naming their pistols at that time too.
