Apparently the 585 throws a 750gr pill at over 2700fps.
The 308 just doesn’t look right in that picture. The shoulder is too steep and the neck too thin compared to the body. The 416 is more my mental pic of a 308.

Exactly. We all have mental imagery of a belted magnum reference size being the 300 Win Mag etc…
The parent case of the HE is the 585 Nyati to which Ed Hubel added a belt and sized the rim for the 505 Gibbs boltface. The Nyati coming from the 700NE which is barely 25 thou narrower across the case head. And thats why it looks so wrong!
