Is it one of the 3 that revolver was produced in. or the original cartridge that was invented by the firm just for that revolver?
It’s 44 calibre, that revolver was chambered in it, but I believe the round was released two years before that model revolver (I’m sure you’ll let me know if I’m wrong, and that’s great because then I will have learnt something new)
The 1875 was originally released with the new 44 Remington Centrefire cartridge specifically designed in late 1874 for the 1875 revolver. The 1875 is the only firearm ever to use that cartridge, and it was later chambered for the 44-40 and 45 Colt. It is dimensionally very similar, and can sometimes be interchanged with, the Benet primed 44 Colt. Earlier cartridge conversions ofthe 1858 used a 44 Rimfire which is believed to have been the inspiration for the centrefire cartridge. Cheers
Thanks, I didn’t know the 44 Remington CF only came in that revolver…
The cartridge is not the Remington 44…
So is it one of the other two?
Yes, but it’s not the obscure one listed above
I forget the name, but I actually watched MidwayUSA video on this one last night lol
Is it the 44-40?
Looks like a gentle tapper, 44-40 I think is a bit more defined.
So 45 Colt, otherwise known as 45 Long Colt to differentiate it from the S&W 45 Schofield round.
44-40, fatman it’s your go
Are you sure?
Certainly meant to be, looks to be the same photo though…
One of you needs to have a go
Fatman got it already- His go.
26.5mm Flares?
is it a shotgun shell?
