Engine in my truck dropped a liner, ( shit itself for the non- mechanically inclined ),
Was going to head home but the farmer I am contracting for offered me his truck to pull my trailers with. Not making the money I should be but at least there is some coming in. Looks like an in chassis rebuild is in my future, oh fucking joy!

So, head comes off. crank case and one big end cap comes off, rod and piston out through the top. Cranks stays in situ? How the hell do you get the liner out? I can’t get over the scale of things above passenger vehicles. Im amazed at the diesel stuff that you and AusTac deal with.
Our cat Engines are big enough that they have seperate heads and you can take the side plates off and rotate the crank to just the right spot to access the big end caps and crane the piston assembly out the top, depending on what’s actually happened will change they way you go about it but you can just use a tool which kind of expands onto the liner and grabs it from the bottom and pulls it out
Highway trucks are a bit more c*nty and I don’t envy @danmac 's future
