Brno mod 1 serial 54349

any brno collectors able to advise mf date of this one please. there is no date stamped on it. only info i found suggested could be trainer army purchase that had no date stamps. its bit ratty but bores good and functions as should, is from a mates family estate. he just like to know.




On the other side of the receiver (opposite the serial number) there are usually a couple of two-digit numbers, almost adjacent each other: one on the receiver, the other on the barrel. Usually just above the edge of the stock wood.
They indicate the last two digits of the year of manufacture - e.g. 71 = 1971.
They might be hiding under that layer of rust/gunk.

thanks oldAG i was aware and will get owner to look some more. my research talks of issue to army for trainers and they had no manf date at all.

I’m not totally conversant with the early history of the Czech rifles but it has been my understanding that the military trainer rifles (post WW2) were marked tgf, and Not Brno.
There’s a YouTube video that explains very well the various iterations of the firearms industry there and the numerous brand names. I’ll track it down and post the link.
