22LR Rifle Recommendation

So your opinion about Rossi 8122’s are “Not me, sorry”? What does that mean?

I think he means Rossi guns are pretty shit, which they are.

I mean i don’t have an opinion on it, sorry.

…but also i own a heap of 22s and none of them are Rossi :man_shrugging:

I figured instead of starting a new thread I’d give this one a bump. Ok so a question for the .22 nerds, yes you know who you are… Do you guys know if these Chiappa LA322’s are any good?? Because I mean for $600 it kind of seems rude not to buy one. Thoughts??

I know it says “out of stock” but they’ve just advertised them so i figure they must be expecting stock in.

I can’t say I have ever heard anything good about them and have never seen anyone using one, so maybe that’s a sign. But I have never handled one, so it’s all just guesstimates.

If you want something 22ish and lever and modern:

  • BL-22 (but x2 the price minimum), steel, very short lever throw.
  • Henry ($700 from Cleavers), alloy, dura/cera-coated, classic lever action feel.

Both are hyper reliable.

If money is ignored it would depend on your preference to how the lever action feels, Henry and BL-22 are very different.

…and in general I have never had any luck with any Crappa that I’ve handled. Somewhat Temperamental on mechanics, like if you start working the lever you better commit or you get a jam.

My 2c

Thanks that’s exactly the info I was chasing, I don’t really WANT one, but I don’t have one (a lever 22) so when i saw the email I thought fuck that’s cheap so why not, I’ve got to go into cleavers to pick up another handgun which should be next week I think, so I’ll definitely have a look at that henry for a cheap little plinker while I’m there.

Handle BL-22 while at it

Righto will do

@JSS I found a lever action for you.

That’s pretty cool in it’s own right, but I’m thinking it’s more likely to give @bentaz a hardon given his steampunk fetish

I cant speak for the 22 model but I have a chiappa 357mag lever action and have no complaints with that gun.

I have used a Chiappa 1892 in 357mag. Was a great looking single shot rifle. 22 might be beter though.

Why was I not made aware of this!?

Youve seen and used it before. It just gets lost in the background of other more interesting stuff.

I had a chiappa 92 in 357, it was easiest of my guns to part with before i move up here!
Ran like a dog, we put a few 1000 rnds through it, but I never liked it!

A bolt repeater…a Lithgow Model 12 can be had in your price bracket.

A lever or lever release not in your price bracket Browning BL22 or CZ515 respectively.

Good luck…

I like the look of the W&S Xocet…so they shoot good then?

The Norinco JW-15As are really good for the money. Obviously made out of tractor parts, but they shoot really well, are built like a Communist Bloc tractor, and are basically a clone of the Brno Model 2 everyone loves.

I’ve got a couple of things that cover the lever release plinker hole, I don’t really care about the price tag too much. It’s more that the cheap one in the weekly email form Shooters Delight caught my attention, which then made me start thinking along the lines that I don’t have a little yeeha cowboy lever action and thought one might be fun for some iron sight mucking about.

I had an Xocet but it disappeared with the other stuff last Xmas holidays, I think they look cool & they shoot great, I just had a cheap Hawke 3-9 or 4-12 (can’t remember which) scope on mine & it was a little tac driver which surprised me for its price, for the money I reckon they’re pretty hard to beat.
