The steel target or anything made of steel and even down to steel bolts in a frame can get the inspectors to read you the riot act and not certify your range.
We have purchased a big steel target that we are planning on shrouding and trying to get a tick of approval for that. It primary purpose is to be able to prove your gun if you have any doubts about it being sighted in so you don’t kill an electronic target.
