Wow, @Lordhunt nobody responded to this… I feel like there’s so many, highly mood dependent. But 9mm and 22s would be my go to chamberings.
Just so everyone is aware, i have not in the past, and still do not own anything in 30-06. Just thought I’d share this factoid.
Yeah I completely missed this post some how.
I’d have to say 1911 in any calibre would be my favourite. Followed closely by all the old stupid 22 target pistols that I buy that make people question my sanity.
Same here, it’s the ultimate grandpa cartridge, all the old fellas give you the story about a 3006 that was so good that blah blah blah.
I have to concede that I think it may be one of those good accurate rounds because when I sighted in a mates new 30-06 Sako for him it was clover leafing at 100m straight out of the box with both Federal power shock and Rem CoreLokt (so average hunting ammo), so there’s probably something to be said for all the grandpa stories.
Maybe I’ll get one the same day I go buy myself a walking frame or mobility scooter

My little Tuffy .410 is entertaining offhand, and isn’t limited to a range. Fun being able to throw a can left handed and shoot it with your right.
I’ve got a 30-06, I wanted a big, hard hitting calibre that would convince angry pigs they’d been shot the first time seeing as I was after a single shot rifle and one in 06 came up in the right place at the right time and price.
I am getting older though so maybe that’s all bullshit and I’m “just old”?
@Oldbloke had good results with his with all kinds of bullet weights, even cast loads with trailboss. he shot everything from foxes to sambar with it so I guess theres that…

Yeah id like one of those, but the front sight is not getting easier to see…Its pretty fine…
I rebiult an FN98 Mauser, screwed a heavy as f@ck barrel into it…Its a 3006 Varmint rifle lol

Yeah but now i want to put a std. mil spec stepped barrel back into it…Along with an 03A3 rear peep sight, front tunnel sight, with the straight bolt, clip fed…Keep the military feel to it…
