Try and get something around 16-18" for hunting. Plenty of barrel for a 2-7x scope to keep it light and fast handling.

No, its not just you. There’s a few of us around. Not my absolute “go to” for a hunting trip, but its nice to mix it up a little.

I would take out a milsurp hunting if I was assured that the game being hunted were plentiful and one miss would not ruin a whole days hunting. Also only if the expected range was well within 200 yrds pref closer. Otherwise I choose a rifle that I know where it is going to hit and I have plenty of recent experience with.
