Dual battery kits?

JS you need to stop going through your mums drawers, we don’t need to see how she rolls.
And everyone else stop talking about 12v it’s just not on!!

Im going to build a 12v power supply with a stationary engine, car alternator, and to keep the climate activists happy, i will throw a solar panel into the mix! Environmentally friendly you know…

Say man, how y’all doin them cool wellbody/styleside/factory tub with canopy 12v window setups?
Ya know, with the MPPT and inverter and control box behind one of the pop up canopy windows? Like in the picture?

I mean it seems obvious enough: Build it off the side of the fridge slide portion etc. Im wonderign what hazzards get in the way, what people would do differently. If you have advice Im all ears, tips suggestions etc.

I have all the gear ready to go now.

Drawers installed.
Fridge slide
Fridge
Control Box
Solar Panel
LiFEPO 120ah battery
large cable cutters and proper 12v battery crimping tool and lugs

ooh, and a fire extinguisher, so I like a fuggin CHAD.
Should get a Fireys axe mounted for maximum puss pull.

It looks good, but seems to take up a fair bit of space for whats in there.

Good use of awkward space. I would have a little concern about heat from the window making that space very hot however. A test or two before I mounted all the equipment would be in order.

Good idea. Im a master with 12v fans and cooling so some tests are in order.

I’d look at using the voids behind the wheel wells maybe. Shit gets awful hot behind glass.

Yeah i’d be using some Solarscreen or similar on that window to help keep the heat down, that stuff works great.

I did a knife display at a local show last year.
I put a bunch of knives in a Pelican rifle case and covered it with a piece of lexan so they couldn’t be coon-fingered. It sat in the sun on a 20⁰ day for a couple of hours. I had a bloke interested in buying a knife so I opened it up to show him a couple. You couldn’t touch any of the knives, they were just too hot. When I got home I inspected them closely and found that the epoxy had let go on a couple of the handles. The stuff I use is the absolute best for knifemaking and is stable up to 95⁰C. (Thats why you should never put a custom knife in a dishwasher)
Who knows how hot it got in the case but I won’t be doing that again.
I had to re-do all of the handles.

Alright the best $119 chinesium mono PV panel that could fit between the canopy crossbars.
$89 RedArc flush mount brackets mean it sits.just below deck height, can still use the bars for lugging.
Rated at 300 chinese Watts (fwee hunwed wot) it made about 130ish after getting baked for 2 hours. Very happy as its more than the Kings with less of the space.

Hey mate. Looking at the same 200ah life battery from KINGS online for my boat.
Would you recommend???

Just make sure they’re marine rated (and from kings i’d want that in writing lol). Marine batteries are usually built with tougher plate construction to cope with the harder jarring they can get.

Oh… oops.
Just bought it

Either $700 we’ll spent or wasted! :flushed:

Oh well, looks like you’re our guinea pig

If you’re doing more lakes for trout & stuff it’ll be fine. It’s more for the constant hits from slapping against swell & chop all day at sea.

Yeah… I’m not really a rough water boater so fingers crossed.:+1:

Can’t justify the $2k price tag for similar marine specific models.

Sometimes I think they just add %100 to the price along with the word ‘marine’…

I am sure they do mark stuff a huge % to cover the breakages and warranty claims that the ocean claims. But are we talking batteries or solar panels here?

Batteries.
200Ah lithium beep cycle to run my bow mount.

My wife keeps taking the battery charger over winter and I’ve bought probably $1400 in leadcacid batteries over the past 5 years, so this time I’ve bought an onboard charger she can’t remove & a lithium batteries so I should have a few days of bow mount use before needing a tea charge.

Ballsy putting anything KINGS branded out on the water. That said, its survived one wet season so far, beer is cold and its been up and down the country twice and spent maybe 20 hours on corrugated crap. It even went to melbourne and didnt get AIDS.

Actually it did & just didn’t tell you…You need to get to the clinic FAST!!!

If it’s survived your lovin’ then it should be fine for my occasional fair weather fishing trips; as long as it doesn’t spontaneously combust… time will tell!
